Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2021
Hello, I am Bradi and I'm from Canada. I have always loved to read but as I became older and started working and going to school I never seemed to find the time to pick up a good book. However, with the pandemic happening, I was able to get back into my passion. My goal is to try to read every day for at least 30 minutes.
Hi everyone! My name is Abby, I'm 17 and I'm from the US. I read fantasy as well as YA novels. I found this group from @Booksandlala. I follow her and was looking through the groups she's apart of.
I've been in a reading slump for the past 4-ish years, so my reading goal for 2021 is 8 books. Just to get me back into the swing of reading regularly again. Thanks for having me!
Hi! I'm Alex, and I'm from the US (Michigan). I mostly read non-fiction (I especially like science books) and realistic fiction, but I'm open to reading most genres if something catches my eye. Right now I'm on a Marvel comic kick. My reading goal for this year is 26 books, although I might increase that later if I hit my goal too early in the year.
Hello everyone, My name is Patricia Mae and I am 16. I am from the Philippines. Mostly I like to read Young adult, sci-fi, and fantasy. I found this group because it seems interesting and I love social groups too. My reading Goal this year is I can read 30 or more than that...I loved it here and I'll promise I always participate here...Thank you...
Hello, my name is Kaden. I’m 15 and from the United States.I mainly enjoy nonfiction so that is the majority of what I’m going to be reading throughout this year.
I wanted to start reading more because I knew that reading would help me expand my knowledge in various fields.
Hello Everyone,My name is Kadijah Michelle, and I live in Central Pennsylvania.
I am a Muslim Mommy of four, and I am married to my best friend.
I have actually been a member of this group for quite awhile (you will notice my name on some threads), but I have been on hiatus for the last couple of years. Sometimes life just gets in the way of your reading goals, but I'm glad to be back!
I love to read all kinds of books, and I have to say this year's group reads have been phenomenal! Kudos to all of the group members who have been nominating and voting for all of these jems.
I found this group years ago by poking around on Goodreads. According to the archives, it was back in 2014 and I think the group only had about 6000 members. I love how it has grown!
My reading goal for this year is a modest 20 books. I am starting slow so I don't overwhelm myself. I really do feel rusty. I have probably only read 6 books in the last two years, but all of my children are older now and honestly even with all the streaming services available, I can never find anything to watch on TV. It's time to tackle that "to read" list again.
Hello! My name is Alex Kramer and I'm from Dallas, TX. I'm currently getting back into the habit of reading, so my lists and taste in books have changed a lot. I love to read a bit of everything, but my favorite would have to be fiction with a hint of YA. I found the group by searching through Goodreads, and I am hoping to at least read 5 books by the end of the year. I'm aiming low since I'm just getting back into reading, but I hope it will be more than that! Nice to meet you all! :)

Hello! My name is Ren and I'm based out of Washington (state). I've been pretty firmly in the Fantasy YA/NA side of the book world for the last several years, though I really enjoy classics, historical fiction, and autobiographies. I stumbled across this group by looking in the groups section. I tried out Goodreads back when I was a freshman in HS and just couldn't get the swing of this. I'm hoping I'll be more successful this time around! My reading goal that I set for myself this year is 20. My teen self is balking at how "low" that number is, but adult me is about to start a second job so 20 is looking a little ambitious. My hope is to knock out at least two more books in the next week to help set me up for success. I'm excited to truly rediscover my love for reading, and I'm hoping that this will help keep that flame going.
Greetings everyone! My name is Joan, I'm 63 and a constant reader. I currently reside in California but was born in Atlanta.
I'm mostly an eclectic reader though my favorite genres are mysteries, dystopian/fantasy, thrillers, Regency romance, and cozies. I like to escape into various worlds of "what if" at the end of the workday and on the weekends since I tend to avoid television.
I found this group form the GR home page and it looked very interesting place to discover new readers and new books.
My baseline reading goal is usually 50 because it's a struggle to find original, well-written new books. But it's great when I discover wonderful new books/authors to start a new collection and expand my scope of reading.
Hello, my name is Cemre and i am from Turkey. I am 27, married and working as an R&D engineer.I mostly read books in Turkish and sometimes i read Turkish writers. So far 2021 is the year that i read a lot of Turkish writers. I like to read novels and mystery books.
I don't have a lot of time for reading because i am working, that's why i choose to listen from audiobook apps.
Last year i read 20 books, so i set my goal to 50 this year. Good luck everyone!
Hi everyone.I am from Scotland.
Books genres i most enjoy are mystery/suspense/Thriller however this year i dont wish to limit my reading and hope to explore other genres through different groups and challenges.
How did i find this group? Well i was at cozy mysteries group and i had a look at the members list to see who was still active and posting, i looked at profile of said individual then groups and thats what brought me here. I usually look at member profiles just to see what they are reading and pick a few books for my tbr collection.
My reading goal was one book a month for 2021. I thought that would be a challenge but i am now thinking the actual challenge would be to read books from as many genres as i can. With a little help from Group challenges and group monthly reads i think it could be a rather good year for books
My name is Wendy. I currently live in Germany. I am 37 years old, a mom, and military spouse. I like all different genres and types of books. I will give everything a shot. During the pandemic, I discovered audiobooks and have gotten to enjoy a ton more books than I works have. My goal this year is set to 150 but it is the end of May and I already hit 102 so I may have to up it.
Hi, I'm Flora and I live in a small town in Missouri. I enjoy all different types of genre but my favorites are dystopia/fantasy. I read regular books, ebooks, and I also listen to audiobooks. I started listening to audiobooks when I commuted to work before the pandemic. I no longer have that job, but I still listen to audiobooks when I can. The last couple of years I haven't been involved in groups on GR because of grad school, but now that I've finished I decided I'd like to be social again.
My goal is to read 100 books this year, so far I've read (and listened to) 54.
Hi, I'm Adrienne and I live in Illinois. I'm 74, married, and retired. I love to read many genres of books, but I have to say I don't enjoy Fantasy or Sci Fi very much. My goal this year is 70 books and I'm ahead of schedule right now. I love to hear what all of you are reading and enjoying.
Hello! I'm Lisa from Chicago. I typically read non-fiction and biographies but I mostly just read anything that sparks my curiosity. My reading goal this year is 20 books. Happy to be part of the group, it looks like a fun way to connect with other readers!
Hello! My name is Lydia and I live in Las Vegas Nevada. I mostly read fiction but I do try to read at least one nonfiction book every 1-2 months. I haven’t really had a goal in mind, but I’ll say 25 books this year would be a good start.
Hi, My name is Yogesh. At least that's what my parents call me.I live in India near the banks of Mahi river.
I like to read non-fiction books with the aim of trying to learn something or increasing my knowledge. Share your recommendations! I would love to check them out!
I haven't been an active reader and I am trying to build a habit of reading from past few days. Hence, started using goodreads actively to keep myself motivated. That's how I landed here. Hopefully, I can start on this reading journey well and be consistent to finish tens of books. Look forward to having good constructive talks in the group!
Hi, my name is Julietta and I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area. I love to read fiction such as novels and short stories by favorite authors like Barbara Kingsolver or Alice Munro or essays. Another thing that I enjoy is to find new authors. Lately I've read 5 books by David Sedaris who has hilarious, semi-autobiographical, cringe-worthy tales. My tendency is to locate an author that fascinates me and then to read a looooooong run of their books! On a parallel vein, I also do the same thing when reading Spanish language books. One of my prolific reading authors in Spanish is Isabel Allende. I'd definitely be up for doing some buddy reading of Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche: Americanah or Half of a Yellow Sun are my next in line choices. See you in the group!
Hi everyone I am Ashima from Delhi, India. I love reading thrillers, suspense, mystery, biographies, memoirs and good self development books. My goal this year is to read at least 12 books, 6 of them non-fiction
I would love to do group reads and buddy reads and discuss them.
Hello! I’m Sophie! I mostly read YA fantasy and romance. My favorite books are currently Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard :)
Hi folks! My name is Madalynn, and I'm from Virginia, USA. I like to read just about anything, but my favorites are historical fiction and fantasy novels. I found this group scrolling through Goodreads and it looked like a great group of people. My goal for 2021 is to read 100 books, and I'm hoping to exceed that! I look forward to getting you meet y'all!
- I am from Des Moines, Iowa.- I love to read fantasy with strong female lead and some romance mixed in. But I thoroughly enjoy sexy romance books and a good thriller.
- TBH, not 100% sure. I think maybe a friend on goodreads is on here?
- I've already met my reading goal for 2021 (58/50) so I most definitely misjudged. I'd like to read another 50 before the end of the year.
*** To add, I don't READ books but LISTEN to them. But I always just say "read."
Hello there!I'm Salma, I'm 22 and I'm from Egypt. I like to read psychology and philosophy, I love reading so much, it calms my anxiety and is a nice place for me when social anxiety hits me. However, I don't have much time to read.
I joined because I don't have many friends who read and I would love to discuss the books I read. Also, I wanted some encouragement to read more.
My reading goal is 20 but I found myself ahead of schedule so I think I should increase it.
Hi Guys!I am Hiba and am 14. I am from Pakistan but live in the US. I love thrillers, mystery, fantasy, contemporary and romance.
I love to read and wanted to get involved a bit more in the reading community. My goal for this year is 30 books.
This is my first year setting a reading goal for myself so I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself.
Thanks for welcoming me. It's nice to be here.
Hello, I’m Jaydinn I’m 15. I’m from California USA. I love to read basically realistic fiction and basically just sad love story’s. I also love fantasy and good books that make you never want to put down the book. My reading challenge for this year is 60 and I know I can do that so I probably be raising it 😭. I do piano and love boxing but not nearly as much as readings and music. I use reading as a escape and coping ability as a lot of other readers I know. I book tab all of my books and have a section in my notes for all of my quotes from every stories I read. Finishing this my favorite book I have read so far is the night circus and ACOSF because Nesta changed my life in more ways then one others deeper than some, and than my favorite authors are probably Colleen hoover and SJM.
Hello everyone!I'm Jowaher and I'm 22 years old. I'm a proud Muslim girl from Saudi Arabia. I love to read YA, Adult Fiction/Erotica, Manga, Crime/Thriller and Contemporary. I've had a long pause from reading and wanted to join a book club to get me back on track and have some book discussions with everyone. So, I went to Goodreads and found the group from just scrolling down. Since, I'm trying to go back to reading, I've set my goal to just read 15 books and hopefully I'll reach it.
Nice to be here and meet everyone!
Hey my name is Nimsay (backwards). I just finished highschool/secondary, and hope to start UNI this coming semester. I live in Europe. *hint* the country I live in has "Nor" in it's name😉I like reading romance. Romance is the only genre that I know for sure, that I love reading. But I have also read one fantasy book, and i loved it! Maybe I have some love for fantasy as well. Maybe I just need to explore it 😏
Other then that I hope to read a lot of different bookes this year, so that i can find out what my taste is.
Currently, I am reading bookes RM from bts have recommended. I honestly don't know why, but I feel like it would be a good start. And to find out if I like philosophical books or not.
I hope that at the end of 2021, that I have:
1. better sense of what types of bookes that i like
2. that I can read faster
3. that I get educated and get a new perspective on topics I know little about
4. get better vocabulary
5. enjoy myself and find new friends and a new hobby
Thank you if your read this far! Friend me and we could talk more if you think I am interesting! Have a nice day!!!
Btw I am currently reading Kafka on the Shore, so far I am actually enjoying it!
Hello everyone! I’m Paige, I’m 19, and I’m fairly new to goodreads and this group. I am from the State of Oregon, USA. My favorite books are usually horror or romance, and I’m in college to become a veterinarian, although I’ve also dreamt of being an author as well. It’s nice to “meet” you! :)
Welcome everyone so happy to have you join our group. We have 15 yearly challenges and so many other things to get you motivated to read. i hope you all have a blast reading with us.
Hi guys, my name is Luiza and i am from Brazil. Im 20 years old and am studying to become a Product Designer. I was in this group since a while back but only now was able to pick up reading again. afew year back I read sooooo many books a month, it was crazy, but I had to wait to the habit comeback naturally instead of forcing me and/or getting frustrated. Now Im here and happy to participate in the dinamics of the group. As for my taste, I love a mixture of things, but have been leaning twoards light and breezy books due the pandemic, lockdown and everything; i read both in portuguese and english to be able to participate in the challenges.
So glad to be part of this communnity!! <3
Hello, I'm Joany, but you may call me Jo :). I am 44 years old, and have a 24 year old son. I am from a small town in southern Illinois, Eldorado. I used to read a lot back in my Jr High and High school years, and started to taper off when I graduated and had my child.I recently started back to reading about 2 months ago, and have been avid ever since.
I love thriller/horror/supernatural and romance novels.
I came across this group while searching for groups to join.
My goal reading for 2021 is 25 novels.
Happy Reading, everyone! 😊
Hi, my name is Leslie Hayden. I'm 33 years old and I live in southern Illinois, Marion to be exact. I'm a stay-at-home mom to my 7 year old daughter. I love to read, always have, it started out as my escape from life when I was a kid and turned into my way to chill out. I read just about anything, but I'm not keen on sci-fi/fantasy, westerns, or erotic romance books. I also love to listen to audiobooks. Currently I own around 1100 books and I'm slowly making my way through them. My goal for 2021 was 30 books. Normally, I would set it higher but with having a child home a lot more due to covid school schedule it's hard to get any reading in. I found this group by browsing through the groups. I like challenges, games, talking to other people about books.
Heyy!I am Rizwana from India. I'm 17.
I love reading books mainly fantasy, thriller, romance. Not a big fan of Non-fic. I am a newbie in goodreads.Tbh I still didnt discover half of the things in good reads. I am here looking for people with the same love for books!! If you find my taste on books similar. Feel free to be friends with me!! I am always here!!!
My goal this year is 50 and I'm at 23.
Well that's it! I'm glad to be here! Looking forward to meet all the amazing people out here>>
Hello! I'm Heather, and I live in Wisconsin. I decided to set myself a reading challenge because I can never figure out what to read next, and I want to read some of the great books I hear about. I've put together a bucket list of books I want to read and got started a few weeks ago. My list has 150 books, and I'm on #2. I don't have a goal for how many to read this year, but instead my goal is to stay focused, read thoughtfully and talk with other readers along the way.
