Hi everyone i'm Alex and i'm 19 from Manchester in the UK, but am currently living in Liverpool studying History.

I generally read fiction books, and my favourite genre is definitely thrillers/murder mysteries. I would like to branch out and read more non-fiction and some classics too!

I found this group by looking which groups my friends were part of, and this seemed fun and exciting so I decided to join. I am new to groups, so hopefully I start to get the hand of it soon :)

My 2021 reading goal is to read 60 books. I read so much when I was younger, but through lockdown I re-discovered my love for books!

message 328: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandatuckbabytuck) | 60 comments - Where are you from?
- What kinds of books do you like to read?
- How did you find our group?
- What's your reading goal?

I live in Takoma Park, MD, a super liberal DC suburb. I love thrillers and dystopian, contemporary, and literary fiction. I listen to nonfiction audiobooks and tend toward memoirs and modern history. I plan to read 100 books for the first time ever this year! I'm 42 in, so I'm ahead of schedule. I'm here looking for inspiration!

I'm currently in the middle of 3 books, 1 ebook (The Hangman's Daughter), I physical book (The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse), and I'm flipping between ebook and audiobook for The Count of Monte Cristo.

I set a Goodreads goal every year, and I do the Popsugar challenge.

Aleyna Hi, I’m Aleyna from Turkey. I’m 19. I don’t have any specific favourite kind of books since I don’t believe I've read enough books to be my favorite genre.
My reading goal is 50 but I am hoping I will reach 75.

message 333: by Mapi (new)

Mapi (maireblackberry) Hi!
I'm Maria, I'm from Italy and I'm 27 years old. I like to read mainly fantasy, historical fiction, classic and thriller books.
I'm relatively new here in goodreads, I created my account at the beginning of the year, because I wanted to get back into reading. I set my goal not knowing how many books I could read in a year or even in a month and I discovered that I set the 2021 goal too low: I already completed it. I don't want to set another official goal, though, because I want to see how many books I can finish in a year without pressure.
I discovered this group because I was searching for someone to buddy read with and also I think this is an opportunity to get out from my confort zone and discover new generes.
Good luck to everyone!

Angela Beard | 16 comments Hello new friends,

My name is Angela and I'm from Seattle, WA, USA. I started reading more during the pandemic, and one thing led to another and all of a sudden I'm active on GoodReads. I've just been poking around the site and found this group, hooray! I have a pretty wide range of reading interests but at the top of the list are history, literature, biography, nonprofit/fundraising (keeping up at work), fiction.......I have a lot of interests and enjoy reading about them all. My goal this year is 25 and I'm at 7....just finished a long Dickens novel which I think should have counted for three books. :) Glad to be here.

message 336: by Amelia (new)

Amelia Rose (official_memyshelvesandi) | 1 comments Hi all,

Born and Raised in Ireland, 34, mama to two older teens (18)(16). Back to reading passionately after struggling with chronic illness and a Law Degree, finally excepting reality that I’m currently too ill and need to chill. I love personal development, historical romance, classics, educational, poetry, all fictions really... but I guess if it’s got words and sometimes beautiful artwork and written well I’ll give it a go.

My goal is 52 books in a year, but I’m already behind so 24 in year would be good.

I read however I can but nothing beats a good book.

message 339: by Maven (new)

Maven | 5 comments Hi all, I'm Maven and I'm pleased to meet you! There's a lot to go through in this group so I expect to spend a few days getting myself oriented. I joined the group as it was one of the top recommended and I hope that you all help me keep to my reading goals!

I enjoy reading, writing letters, baking, scrapbooking and junk journaling, pets (especially cats).

I mainly read:
Mystery: Mostly cozy and police procedural
Non-Fiction: True Crime, Paranormal (Ghosts), Aliens, Cryptids, Ancient History, Legends and Mythology
Romance: A bit of all kinds, mainly historical, paranormal, alien and LGBT
A bit of Fantasy: Humorous or Dystopian

If anyone has similar reading interests and would like to be friends, feel free to send a request! :)

Also I am looking for recommendations for good YA books for a youth group that I will be running this summer. Pretty open as to content but should appeal to all genders ages 13-17. If it's a series, not too many books. So if you have suggestions, go ahead and send a message. Thanks!

Looking forward to getting to know you all, *hugs*!

message 347: by Sheri (new)

Sheri (lupiorama) | 6 comments Hi, I'm Sheri , 54, and I've mainly been lurking the past few months. Lots of things going on but my daughter, 35, is a member here and thought I might enjoy some of the groups. Thought I might start with a Buddy Read. I started out with a 52 book goal, figuring about a book a week but due to some ongoing issues, I blew through that in the first month. Instead of setting a new goal, I just thought I'd try for some new authors. I enjoy all genres except horror so I figure there's lots of room for new...
