Victoria-- such a happening city now! When I was growing up it was a city of the "newly weds and nearly deads" but no more. I haven't been to the Island since I was in my 20s though, must my home town on the Sunshine Coast, etc.

message 269: by April (new)

April N | 1 comments Hi everyone!! 👋

My name is April I’m an engaged 30 year old mom to a 10 year old boy. I’m living in Rhode Island USA with family.

My favorite kinds of books would have to be thriller/suspense novels/crime novels. But they have to be kind of different from one another for me to have an interest cause it seems that a lot of them are about one secretive trying to solve a murder/crime and I’m like ehh. My favorite author is James Patterson . I’m gonna be starting to read 3rd degree by James Patterson soon because I am trying to continue the Women’s Murder Club series :) I know, I’m a little behind!! 😆 But anyways...

My goal for this year: wow that’s a hard one, I’m gonna say 10 for now but that might change if I start reading more. 💕

I found this group in the beginning when I had to recreate my account because my Facebook account was hacked :( but that’s about it! Hope to meet some of you soon!!

I was on a non-fiction kick for a long time and lately I’ve begun the Dune series, Witcher books, art history, mystery, and much more. I’m having fun exploring new genres and hope to connect with others here!

Alma (almamm) | 11 comments Hi, I'm Alma and I live in Ireland. I have been trying to read more books and one of my new year resolutions was that. However, as with most of my new year resolutions, I fall off the waggon if I don't have a goal and encouragement. message 281: by Mansi V (new)

Mansi V | 239 comments Hi I'm Mansi from the UK! I just recently got goodreads and have wanted to join a group/bookclub, I found this one and it sounds so cool!
I rediscovered how much I like reading last year in lockdown and so I'm trying to read a lot more now. I want to read 30 books this year (I'm ahead at the moment but want to keep it at 30 because I don't read as much when I have essays and exams).
I couldn't actually say what my favourite genre is, I just kinda find different books that sound interesting to me. I know I don't like Y/A and romance anymore though, and I guess I'm not into science much.
I do want to start reading more non-fiction though so any recommendations would be great!!
Sorry that was long oops

Welcome as for nonfiction start with a topic your interested in or want to learn about. Examples gardening, I think cookbooks especialy Americas test kitchen would count since Americas test kitchen explains the science of why things work.

message 284: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice Pizzo | 2 comments Hi! My name is Beatrice and I’m from Italy. I’m 16 and I’ve been reading since I learned how to read at 6. For almost two year I stopped reading (you know, the first two years of high school), but thanks to the lockdown I rediscovered how much I enjoy reading. Last summer I challenged myself and I read 10 books in two weeks! Anyway, what I read the most are yellows/crime books, but I actually enjoy reading every kind of book. This year I want to read as many classics as I can, I’ve never got into the genre before, so I think this could be the right time. My current reading is “the song of Achilles”. My goal for 2021 is to read at least 30 books, but I know for sure I’ll read more.
Recommendations are welcome, feel free to recommend me every kind of book. :)

message 285: by Lidya (new)

Lidya | 2 comments Hello everybody! My name is Lydia, I am 42 years old. I was born in Russia, but due to personal circumstances and the course of fate, I now live in Istanbul. if we talk about preferences in literature, then I am almost "omnivorous". I love both classics and modern literature, I read biographies of interesting and brilliant personalities, sometimes I indulge in reading detective stories and modern thrillers by Scandinavian authors, sometimes I prefer to choose poems to relieve the brain and join the beautiful. it's like going to an art gallery). This year I want to read at least 50 books, but most likely I think there will be more. the main thing is probably the quality, not the quantity. )

message 290: by Emma (new)

Emma | 2 comments Hi everyone.
My name is Emma, and I'm 17. I am from Australia. I love to read fiction books, mainly I read historical fiction, romance, mystery, and coming of age books.
I came across the group trying to find a book club, where I can talk about the books I'm reading. My family no longer appreciates me trying to engage them in a conversation about books they have never read.
My reading goal for the year is 30 books currently. I would love to aim for about 50 books but as this year is my final year at school, I'm playing it by ear and keeping my goal low. Homework and exams often prevent me from reading, but I'm working around it.
For the last 4 or 5 years, I've read very few books often not reading more than about 10 books a year. But this year I've already read 12 and March isn't over so I hope I can continue with my current binge for the rest of the year, although maybe not in October as exams are then. Browsing on Goodreads and my local library website is my favourite form of procrastination at the moment, I am currently writing this during a study period.
I'm fairly new to Goodreads I only joined mid-last year, but only really starting using it this year, so I'm still learning the website. As I was posting this I realized I never verified my email...whoops?
I'm always happy to hear recommendations for books. Hope everyone has a good week. :)
