I enjoyed them very much although I still need to read some of her more recent novels. :)
Hi!My name is Ilse. I joined this group because I needed more motivation to read and I wanted to read books together with others! My reading goal for this year is 37 books :)
Welcome to the group, everyone! :) We have a lot of activities here, and please feel free to join in!
Hello Everyone I'm Joseph and I am from the great state of Texas, the panhandle town of Amarillo to be exact. I joined this group hoping to meet others like lthat need a kick start to read more. I am a sucker for alot of the classic books and some of the more well know authors but would like to branch out and discover some new writers. I am currently reading the Jansen Directive by Robert Ludlum and am loving it so far.
Hi!New to the Group and to good reads. looking forward to participating in the challenges and discussions. I recently obtained a lot of books and I'm trying to read as many as possible. My challenge for this year is to read 150 books.
Hi everyone! I'm new to the group. Looking forward to getting back into reading this year, I've set my goal at 20 books but will try to beat it if possible :)- I'm originally from Iowa but now live in New York City
- I like fantasy and science fiction, but definitely want to diversify this year
- I'm particularly interested in reading more historical fiction and nonfiction books this year.
Hi everyone, I'm Artemis and I'm in my early twenties. I'm from the States, specifically Nashville TN.
I love books with light fantasy (I find that I can't follow high fantasies very well); especially if those books have witches in them or are fairy tale retellings. I also love mythologies and I love reading mythology retellings (so far Circe by Madeline Miller is my favorite in this category). I really like historical fiction when I'm in the mood for it. I also love nonfiction; especially if it's about animal behavior. I love graphic novels and comic books. I'm trying to get into horror, romance and anthologies.
I found this group from BooksandLala (I've been a long time watcher of her YouTube channel), and I finally decided to look into this group. I decided to join, because I thought this would be a good way to get back into reading.
My reading goal is to read, at least, 25 books this year (I upped it from 10).
I hope to make some friends and I can't wait to read with everyone!
Hi I’m new to the group! My name is Emma. I enjoy historical fiction and light mysteries. I’m aiming to read 10 or more books this year. Trying to keep it realistic!
Hi all! My name is Traci and I'm in my 30s. I joined this group a few weeks ago and never introduced myself because I got the flu, but I'm popping back in now and hoping to get active! I'm from Tulsa, OK, USA, and I read more or less anything (which sounds like a cop out but it's also... pretty true). I have a booktube channel that's almost one year old and that's mostly what keeps me motivated to read more. My goal this year is 150 and while it's the highest goal I've ever set for myself, I'm pretty sure I can do it. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Hi everybody.! Looks like I'm a little late to the party...I'm Berengaria. I'm a short story/novella writer originally from the US but now settled in Germany. Last year's reading goal (met) was 50, this year's is 55. We'll see how it goes!
Hi! I'm from Hampshire in the U.K. I love books. I write them and I read a lot. Until recently I hadn't thought of taking part in any kind of reading challenge, as I felt I read enough without any encouragement. Lockdown changed that. As libraries couldn't let people in our local ones provided a service where readers gave an idea of the genres they were interested and had books chosen for them, which they could pick up in a socially distanced way (it's still happening).
I've collected some books which weren't to my taste at all, but I've also read some brilliant ones which I might not otherwise have picked up. It made me realise I'd got into something of a reading rut.
The challenge I'm setting myself is to try one book a week which is by an author I've not read before, in a genre I don't usually read, or is in any other way out of my reading comfort zone. I'm allowing myself to give up after the first few pages if I don't enjoy it, but I have to give each a chance.
Hello! I'm a software developer on Orange County, CA. Most of my reading currently falls into either business novels, philosophy, biographies, or young adult. I'm excited to be joining a community of readers (I haven't before!) and I'll be starting to read the snow child very soon!
Thank you, Zeejane. It's odd how we can stick with a few favourite authors and sort of forget we once discovered them by reading something new (to us).
Hi all! Happy to join Good Reads and this group! My name is Rosemary and I am from New Jersey. I love to read a mix of books from fiction (all kinds but especially historical), memoirs, YA, thriller/suspense and a good biography. I'm happy to take all and any recommendations as part of my reading journey this year. I am hoping to start off with 21 in 2021, with a goal of 21 books I hope to surpass.
Last three books I read are The Office of Historical Corrections, Anxious People and Magic Lessons.
Happy reading!
Hi everyone, my name is Laura, I'm from the Netherlands. This year I hope to find more time for reading. My goal for this year is 25 books, really hope I make it. I really like fantasy, I came back to reading with Game of Thrones and Robin Hobb's Farseer books. I just love getting lost in a good story. I also enjoy historical novels and a good crime story. I hope to get new inspiration from this group and to find other people who are interested in reading.
Hello Everyone! My name is Wendy and I'm originally from Fairbanks, Alaska where I raised and lived for about 30 years. Now I live in Texas. I am happy to see The Snow Child on for February and looking forward to reading it. Its selection is what moved my to join this challenge. I'm also doing the Popsugar Challenge but my minimum goal is only 24 books.
Hi everyone. I found your group through one of my Goodreads friends. I like a lot of the books on your bookshelf. So, I hope to participate in some monthly reads. Also, your challenges look good and interesting. I will sign up for at least one and see how it goes.
I'm new to this group but not to Goodreads. My name is Louise. I'm retired and I split my time between Florida and New Jersey. In 2020, due to the pandemic, I read more books than ever before. My favorite genres include historical fiction and mysteries.

I am from Spain, Barcelona. I love reading Fantasy, Sci-fi, Romance, Middle Grade, Graphic Novels and YA.
I found the group because i was looking into the community to find friends and buddy reads! I found the group reccommended for me on the top page on Goodreads.
My reading goal this year is 40 books for now, i have the intention to read more, but since i have work i am trying not to get too excited and end up stressing about it.
I would love to join some buddy reads and even some twin reads, but since i am new i am still discovering things, everything looks interesting and i want to participate! It's nice meeting you all and i hope to meet some people to share books with!
Welcome to the group everyone and good luck on your goals. Happy reading!Aina wrote: "Ilona wrote: "Welcome, new members! Please stop in and introduce yourselves. We're looking forward to getting to know you.

@Aina maybe join one or two of the things that intrest you the most? Just a suggestion.
Example I joined the color challenge rainbow and the A - Z character challenge both with a goal of 2 books and since I am going to finish the Artemis Fowl series I joined the series challenge.
Hey everyone! My name is Ashley I am 25 living in New Brunswick. I enjoy reading psychological thrillers but also enjoy a good historical fiction or romance here and there :) I have recently picked up some Kristin Hannah books as well as Jodi Podicult which I have come to enjoy from time to time :) My reading goal this year is 25 books! Last year I didn't meet my goal as I was kept quite busy picking up extra shifts as a Registered Nurse. I now am on maternity leave with a 2 month old as well as my 4 year old preschooler so I hope to be able to reach my goal this year!
Hi, my name is Brenda, I'm from Puerto Rico.I love to read. I like Y/A, Fantasy, Romance, Intrigue.

I'm another new member :) My friend Ruthie told me about this group and I thought it sounded great! I'm from Utah, U.S. and I'm a big audiobook reader. I can listen at work so I get most of my books done that way.
I love YA, NA, and middle grade most, but I'll read adult fiction too. I'm a sucker for m/m books and reverse harem.
I read 640 books last year but it was overwhelming so this year I'm aiming for a bit lower.
Hello everyone! My name is Aaron and I am 25 years old from Malaysia. My favorite genre is fiction especially romance , thriller ,historical and young adult. But as long as the book is worth read regardless it is my favorite genre or not I will read it someday. Anyway , I find out this group from my friend who recommend it.
My goal is to reach 100 books to read this year..
Hi! My name is Tiril. I am from Norway. My 2021 reading goal is to read 52 books in total. I also want to read more nonfiction, books by authors that are non-european/american or not centered in Europe/US, more classics and more books written by or centered around the lgbtq+ community. Eventhough i have this goal I’m not going to exlude other genres that I enjoy as sciencefiction, fantasy and YA.
Good luck with your reading goal everyone!
Hello, Group!I'm reaching out from Ohio, near Toledo.
My reading tastes are eclectic, but, I tend towards fantasy and bios.
I'm surprisingly ahead of myself this year in my reading challenge, over half way there, and it's only February!
I've been extremely inactive for a few years, in fact, and 2020 changed my reading habits and then I remembered Goodreads!
I'm back and looking forward to reading and exploring more.
Hi everyone! I created my account here in GR for awhile but has not been very active. I’ll try to post often about the books I’m reading and write some reviews (not really good at it). Anyway, hoping to have alot of friends here and probably reading buddies.Thank you!
Hello, I am Peruvian, I am 23 years old. I live in Trujillo - Peru, I like to read science fiction, drama, novel and fantasy ... in other words I like books for young adults. I hope to find new friends and we can finally talk about our favorite books. I think that for this year 12 books is a good goal because the final part of my career is above me.
Hello everyone! I’m Jennifer, from Charleston, South Carolina, USA. I like reading just about all genres and will often juggle a few nonfiction with a fiction. I’m currently enthralled in both “We Have no Idea” by Jorge Cham and Daniel Whiteson and “Hollow Kingdom” by Kira Jane Buxton (I’m so into quantum physics and apocalyptic fiction right now). My embarrassing admission is that I have more books that are unread than read, but I feel somewhat validated that there is an actual word in Japanese for this habit of collecting books (tsundoku). I forgot how I found this group; it just kind of popped up and I thought it would be great to join since I’ve been excited about the reading challenge for a while now! My *real* honest goal is 50 books (I want to be able to do one a week but I also want to give myself a little grace), but the one I have set up for myself is 35 (I’m pretty much a first-year teacher here and I’m all about giving myself a lot of grace with something I actually have hope in accomplishing). ‘Nice to meet you!
Hello hello! My name is Cara and I’m checking in from rural Maryland. I’m 30 and run an illustration and paper goods shop with my husband. My reading tastes vary but I do love a witty memoir, whimsical novel, or thoughtful nonfiction. In between work and reading, I’m usually in the vegetable garden (starting seeds now for a new season!) or watching British game shows. I’m looking forward to moving back to my home state of Virginia in the next couple of years and putting some elbow grease into an old house near the blue ridge parkway. Thanks for having me!
Hello, My name is Maitha. I am a computer engineering student in my senior year, so finding the time to read is a bit challenging. I had my GR account for few years but I wasn't active, so I was looking at their features and I found this group. I don't really read books in English ( Arabic is my first language ) so this year I am planning to read 20 books in English, starting with classics. I kinda forced my friends to use GR bc I like seeing what they are reading lol. Anyways, I am here to have reading friends/buddies, which will help me to stay on track. Happy reading everyone!
Hello, my name is Viola (from Italy). I am finishing my bachelor in Sociology, and due to some personal struggles I stopped reading regularly a couple of years ago. I just made my GR account to try and find motivation again.
Hello,I am new to the group. I love reading all kinds of books and really wanted to join a group where I could get ideas on what to read. I am from Exeter in the UK. I work in a hospital. I am looking forward to reading the February book, although I have joined a bit late. The last book I re-read was Ordeal By Hunger (a very old book).
Hello everyone. My name is Shannon. I live in Seattle, WA. My fourth challenge brings me to 100 books, hopefully a bit beyond if I keep my head down. I love most genres. I love to dip my toe here and there, big loves contemporary fiction and non-fiction. Postmodern literature takes the cake any day of the week. Hoping to explore some classics this year. Give me the beach, a book and maybe a blanket and all is bliss. Best of luck. See you around.
Hi, my name is Darlene. I live in Maine. I like to read pretty much anything. I just joined this group yesterday. My reading challenge for this year is 21 books for 2021. I'm currently reading Nowhere to Go by Casey Watson.
Hi everyone- my name is Jennifer and I live in Massachusetts. I've loved reading ever since I was a kid but haven't done as much of it over the past few years for a variety of reasons. My goal for this year is to renew my love of books by reading 40 books. I'm currently reading Smilla's Sense of Snow (it's been sitting on my shelf for a long time).
Hello! I'm Morgan and I live in Denver, Colorado. I've lived here about a year now with my husband and 3 kids (currently 7, 6 and 3 going on 19)I recently started using goodreads in full to capture the books I'm reading since my sister and I set a 21 in 21 reading goal. However, it's Feb 15 and I'm already 10 books in!
My personal goal rules are I have allowed audiobooks (b/c i don't get too much downtime with paper in hand) and I've allowed rereads to count even though I don't do it often at all.
I have a wide array of interest, but I am NOT interested in super scary. I love a good romance/lighthearted read, but also deeper, emotional reads. My most current favorite has been the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
I'm excited to start keeping track on Goodreads and hopefully establishing some connections with other avid readers!
Cheers!
