HI!!! Well you can call me Ham, I came across this grp on reddit cause I was hoping to add some friends hahaha. I just turn the responsible age of adulthood sadly. Anyway my goal for this year is to read 60 books.
Hi, I am Lisa and I live in Maryland. I would like to read different genres but lean more towards mysteries with a mystical bent, beach reads and humorous books. I just finished The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James and loved it. My goal is to read 75 books and maybe more this year.

Hey all! I joined this group last year, right before the pandemic, but couldn’t bring myself to read much. Super excited I just finished my first book of 2021 and the month isn’t even out yet.Looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading for inspiration.
Happy reading!

Hi there! My name is Rhuan, I’m a 23-year-old Brazilian who wants to regain my long lost reading habit. Although I’ve read a lot during certain periods of my life, I’ve completely lost the habit in the past few years and wish to reestablish it for good and never lose it again haha I love historical fiction, classics, realist romances and dystopian novels. My goal for 2021 is to read at least 2 books per month, so 24 by the end of the year. I’d also love to take part in a bookclub with call meetings, so as to enjoy the sharing your thoughts experience, which, of course, considerably enhances the understanding of a book.
Hello! My name is Caroline, I'm 19 and I don't really know what books I like yet since I've never really liked reading. However my New Years Resolution was to get into reading and find books that I like. I figured joining a book club would motivate me. I wanna read 8 books before school starts next fall so 1 book a month is what I'm shooting for. If you guys have any book recommendations for people that don't like reading feel free to comment! Can't wait to start this journey with you all!
Hello Everyone!I am Niharika and I am from India. My current reading challenge is to read 75 books in 2021. I like reading children's fiction books. Don't judge me, they allow me an escape to an imaginary world. I've loved reading since I was around five. Though, of course, I would read fairy tales. I like fantasy books, too. Dragons and witches only catch my attention if the way they are incorporated into the story is unique. Like the Chris Colfer The Land of Stories 6 Books Complete Collection Box Set I can't wait to start tracking!
Hi everyone, I am Lorraine and I am from Glasgow Scotland,I like to read all kinds of books, thriller, YA, fantasy, crime and have decided this year I am going to try and read some Manga and Graphic novels as well. I am always on the hunt for recommendations so I am pleased I have joined this group!
I found the group looking for a book club page and this was one of the suggestions!
My reading goal this year is 50 books as I am just getting back into reading after some time away from it. Children and work rule my life now *sigh* I do plan on reading more but didn't want to set the bar too high!
I cant wait to chat with you all and get to know you!
Hello! My name is Jennifer and I live in Houston, TX. I'm a teacher, but haven't worked in a traditional classroom since May...yes...COVID! I have some immune issues and instead, I'm working with one student in his home a few hours a day. I am climbing the walls!!! I'm also studying for a new certification exam (by the way...on the Science of Teaching Reading!) I must take in a few weeks, and as I was procrastinating on my computer (reading my email)....found this group!!! Hooray!!
I love to read and read so much I have to keep a spreadsheet of what Ive read or I'll read it again. Since I'm new to the group and a bit hesitant...I'm going to set my goal at 26, I think. Don't wanna go too high!
Looking forward to participating!
Jennifer
Hello! My name is Tanya; I recently moved to Texas from Oregon, but originally from PA.
I will read just about anything you put in front of me. I found this group by just searching groups, thinking it would be fun to have other people to share books with and discuss.
My goal this year is 150 books.

Hello guys :)I'm Jil and I'm from Germany.
I got back into books at the end of last year after not reading much for a couple of years.
This year I'm hoping to really step up my game and read at least 100 books.
I generally enjoy Fantasy Romance and Fantasy in general, but also Romance, Contemporary, Dystopias, SciFi and comics, especially manga. I am usually open to try any book as long as it sounds interesting to me.
I want to try and read a few thrillers and nonfiction this year to see whether it is something I enjoy.
I'm looking forward to joining a few challenges on here and hope it will help me reach my goal of 100+ books!
Hi everyone 😇😇😇 I am Ecem. I’m 17 and I currently reside in Turkey. I have been reading in an orderly fashion for some time now, and I set my goal for 2021 as >50 books. I love reading fiction (thriller, dystopias, romance, historical fiction) and classics. I want to focus more one reading non-fiction this year. My current favorites are “We” by Yevgeny Zamyatin and “The Sorrows of Young Werther” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Hello everyone! My name is Iulia, I'm 35 and I live in Bucharest, Romania.
I don't have a specific genre but I enjoy reading novels, sci-fi, biographies and art.
I found the group searching for specific groups that could encourage me to read more and I am glad I found this one.
My reading goal is to read at least 1 book/ month just to be realistic.
Every book that is beyond this reading goal will be a pleasent surprise.
Thankyou for investing time and resources in this group and may all have a happy and pleasant day!
Hi, my name is NicciI’m a literature graduate who lives in Cambridge
I am hoping to read at least 12 books this year and I’m hoping to get through some of the ones on my bookcases before buying more (it’s a problem!)
I would like to make some book-ish friends and eventually I would like to have a go at writing :)
Hi, my name is Iton. I'm 26.I enjoy reading mysteries and thrillers, chick-lit/romance, YA, autobiographies, biographies, and historical fiction.
My goal for the year is 75 books. 60 will be related to a reading challenge I'm doing with my sisters and the other 15 would be based on my interests and/or plot that captivates me.
I live in New Hampshire. My tentative reading goal for 2021 is 75.
During 2020 I was able to read 146 books.
That is the most I've read in 1 year, since starting here in 2011. All that I read is in digital format.I have a Puggle that can't be trusted regarding gnawing on physical books or anything else within reach! As a pup she chewed on and wrecked my new eyeglasses!Right now I am reading Emma Donoghue's "The Pull Of The Stars."
Hello ! My name is ginger☺️. I am from Los Angeles,CA. I love to read romances, historical fiction, fantasy, and mystery books ! mostly anything that has a good romance written in them! I'm from New Hampshire too. It's nice to see someone else from the 603. Wow you read a lot of books for 2020. I didn't manage to hit my goal. I actually read a little bit less, I don't understand how that happened.
I am 54 years old. My Husband and I own a bagel bakery in upstate NY. I have always been a reader. I think during these times reading has become most important for escape and sanity when we are so confined to where we are. Thank you for including me!
Hey, I'm Kay.-Where are you from? Maine, USA
- What kinds of books do you like to read? Fantasy, sci-fi, adventure, action, thriller, young adult, childrens
- How did you find our group? Community, group
- What's your reading goal? 100. (This usually gets booted up when I reached said goal)
Hi! I’m Emi, I’m 28 (almost), and I live in Idaho (USA)
I mostly read literary and contemporary fiction, but I have been trying to expand into non-fiction as well! So far I’ve really only been successful in this with true crime and memoirs.
I’m in 2.5 book clubs at the moment (the .5 is my friend and I taking turns picking audiobooks to listen to while we work so we have someone to discuss them with!), so I’ve set my reading goal to 36 (3 books/month) for now, though I really hope to increase it later in the year!
Hello!- I am from Boston, MA, but I live near Seattle now.
- Typically I real sci fi and fantasy. i am interested in branching out but I am also a slow reader.
- I do not remember how I found the group. I signed up a few years ago but never managed to get started. I would really love to read more so I hope to participate more in earnest this year (I just finished Station Eleven).
- I would LOVE to read more often - aiming fr 25 books this year which would be quite ambitious based on past years.

One of my cousins went to Cambridge for her master's degree in the 18th century novel, and since we were both born in British Columbia that's more of a big deal from my end of it (but that was in the aughts as she is now 39)
Don't laugh, I had to go to your page to see which country's Cambridge because my son goes to school in Boston, across the river from Cambridge, MA. As you no doubt no, Cambridge, MA is also home to a number of universities, etc.
Victoria wrote: "Hi I’m from Ireland, love psychological thrillers, my goal would be to read 12 books this year, I love reading however between kids and pets it’s hard to get free time or not fall asleep as soon as..."Hi Victoria! Welcome to goodreads and our reading challenge group. 12 books is a fine goal and I hope you enjoy every one of them. Goodreads is huge and can be confusing but there are plenty of people here that are willing to help answer any questions you have.
Welcome to all of our new group members! I'm Tara from Kansas City Missouri. I am about to turn 51 and my pronouns are she/her.
I have been in this group for a few years now. I like it because I can participate as much or as little as I like and everyone is cool with that. NO pressure.
I'm a book whore. Which means I go to bed with any book I choose, regardless of genre. My goal this year is 48 books and I joined the Clear the Shelves yearly challenge.
Happy 2021 reading everybody!

I agree with the no-pressure thing.

I also have -The Power- on my outstanding to-be-read list.
If you want we could tackle it together in the coming month?
Have a great day :)
Hello!I am Muriel, 52 - born in Belgium but living in the UK.
Favourite genres include crime stories (shout out for Nordic noir) as well as non-fiction books about the environment, geography, travel and quite possibly a few other subjects (see my completed challenge at the end of this year!).
Although a bookwurm since childhood, the past few years have left little time for leisurely reading, so I am determined to change this and return to my old wicked ways. My reading goal has been cautiously set at 24, but as I am currently reading number 6 and 7, this may have to be reviewed upwards later this year (ever the optimist!)
Oh yes, I found this group through the time-tested method of serendipity.
Hi!I'm Lori from Ohio.
This is my third year of setting a reading goal. Last year I read 158 books. More than my goal of 100 because of Covid. I was home a lot more so I found more time to read.
I have set my goal of 100 for 2021. I am reading through the Bible in a year and therefore I am more interested in pages read.
I look forward to joining a few reading groups, also!
Hi everyone I’m Sinead and I am originally from Belfast in N. Ireland but now live in Edinburgh, Scotland with my husband. I read mostly contemporary fiction, but 2020 lockdown insanity saw me read very little and mindlessly binge on Netflix instead. So this year, I’ve set myself a manageable 50 books to read. Looking forward to lots of reading inspiration!
Hi all. My name is Gwen and I’m from Chicago and have two little girls (toddler and baby). I work full time and have a long commute so getting some reading in can be a challenge. I’ve set my goal for 24 books this year.
Hi everybody!I'm Aviâja, but some call me Avi.
- I am from Greenland, and currently live in Denmark.
- I like a wide variety of books. Sci-fi and fantasy are definitely some of my go-to genres, and I have a soft spot for horror. I prefer to listen to audiobooks since that leaves my eyes and hands free to be creative. Recently with the ignition of my wanting to read, I want to dive into books with LGBTQ+ themes and as an Inuk I am also interested in BIPOC
- I am currently looking for likeminded people, which was how I stumbled upon this group. If you want, feel free to add me as a friend.
- I am not too ambitious with regards to my reading goal. I think I can get at least one book in pr. month, so I upped it to 15 books for 2021.
Hello I’m from Virginia USA and I found this group after searching for the 2021 challenge. Because I’ve been very busy and tired for the last few years I’ve not been reading books anymore. I want to start again so I’ve set a goal for 18 books this year. I’ve already completed two so far. My interests are historical fiction, mysteries and detective stories - particularly those set in foreign countries or set in the early to mid 20th century.
Michelle wrote: "Hi! I'm Michelle.- I am from North Dakota

Reading with your daughter so fun and the library is a great resource! Wishing you and your daughter lots of fun while reading together!
Caroline wrote: "Hello! My name is Caroline, I'm 19 and I don't really know what books I like yet since I've never really liked reading. However my New Years Resolution was to get into reading and find books that ..."
Hi, Caroline. I think starting with a book fiction or non fiction whichever your looking to read featuring a topic or genre that intrests you. For example if you like watching a certain sport you can find a book about that try the listtopia section of the site it super helpful and you can narrow it down if your only interested in teen or YA search the listopia for YA books about.... then whatever your interested in.
Or if you like fantasy search for fantasy books etc
Happy reading! Once you find that one book it will get easier to find books.
Hi everyone! I’m Menna, living in The Netherlands. I’m a lover of art and photography (analog mostly), and enjoy reading classics as well as contemporary literature. I have joined this group because I would like to be more connected with my fellow readers :) my goal for this year is 50 books (something I have never achieved before). Hope to be inspired by all of you :)
