cristina (xtinat) Hi i’m Cristina ! I’m 17 i’m from California. I love reading nonfiction, memoirs, and the occasional fantasy/fiction for a light read. I found good reads because it’s Covid and I have nothing better to do with my time than to read, so I thought finding other people who enjoy reading would be fun. My goal is to read 50 books this year and I’m hoping I can surpass that. I’m starting small so when I exceed my expectations I can feel good about myself.

message 102: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hansrox) Hi everyone! I’m Hannah! I’m 21 and live in Toronto. I used to be an avid reader in grade school but once I got to uni I’ve been in a long slump. I’ve decided 2021 will be my year to read more! And I figured joining a group on goodreads will help me with this goal, so happy to be here! As for what I like to read—I think that’s something I want to rediscover this year because I’m not sure anymore :)

message 103: by Disha (new)

Disha Dharmraj Hello everyone, I'm Disha and I'm from India. I love to read fantasy and thriller and the occasional romance. This year my reading goals is a 100 books I couldn't quite meet my goals last year as I went through a reading slump and read around 70 books.
I'm really excited to meet all of you 🥰

message 104: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Blankenship | 1 comments Hi, I am Vanessa. I am from a small town in Eastern Kentucky. I don’t have children of my own, but I do help take care of my sisters three. I have a 13 year old niece, an 11 (soon to be 12) year old nephew, and a 6 year old nephew. I love watching them all three grow and learn, the are all three so very interesting. Down Syndrome/Autism/Aspergers are very close to my heart so if you have any questions I would love to help you sort them out. My favorite genre is historical fiction, but I like anything funny, biographies, mysteries, and sometimes romance... the only books that I truly can’t get into are sci-fi/futuristic. I am looking forward to participating in this group, and to what 2021 has to offer. Happy New Year, everyone!

message 105: by Jini (new)

Jini Bhasi Hi, I am Jini. I am 20 and I am a student from India. I love thrillers, crime and mysteries and I intend to explore other genres as well. My goal is to read 25 books this year and I hope to read more.
Excited to be a part of this group:)

Hannah (hanmabooks) (hanmabooks) | 1 comments Hi I'm Hannah, from the UK (Wales) and I finished my English Language and Literature degree last summer. I'm not particularly fussy when it comes to the genre of the books that I read, the only genre I refuse to pick up is romance (unless there is a bit of supernatural/fantasy involved.) I am partial to a bit of Stephen King and I will read anything that Brandon Sanderson releases.

Last year I read a measly 11 books, honestly I forgot how much I enjoy reading so this year I have set myself the ambitious target of 50 books. I'm looking forward to connecting with you guys!

message 107: by Sara (last edited Jan 05, 2021 07:35AM) (new)

Sara (smlocatelli) | 1 comments Hey everyone! I'm Sara from Chicago. I read a bit of everything but my favorite genres are fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and mystery, and especially books that combine two or more of these genres. I've been doing Goodreads Reading Challenges for many years now, and usually reach or exceed my goal; I'm much better about it now that I'm out of grad school and have more free time for reading for pleasure. This year's goal is 48. Typically I read 50-100 books a year, and I'm sure I'll exceed 48, but I'm also hoping to spend more time this year on my other hobby - writing/arranging and recording music - so I set my goal a bit lower than usual.

I found the group through a Goodreads friend who had recently joined.

Nathalia | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Nathalia and I’m super happy to be part of this group. I’m really into fiction and thriller books.
This year my goal is to read as many books as possible and to find a balance between reading for school and reading for pleasure.

Feel free to add me as a friend and to suggest me any books you think I should read! 🤍

message 112: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (justjessica365) | 36 comments hello, I dont know who will take the time and see this but here goes.

My name is Jessica and I am a SAHM of 2 living in the Bay Area of California. Things are currently pretty locked down here still and not being able to get out to physically visit the library has been tough the last year. As such I have decided to get off my butt and actually join a group here on goodreads and participate with other adults.

I have a Book goal of 25 but a page goal of 50,000 this year which may bring my total books past 25.

I love Urban Fantasy, Romance (though I am just starting to get back into these now that I have passed my 20's by), Sci Fi and apocalyptic novels. I also don't mind reading history or auto biographies randomly.

Most of the books I read are off of Amazon Kindle but I have finally started placing holds on physical books from the library again.

I have no idea on how to close this out. Hope everyone has a productive year.

message 114: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Overlaet (bizzlin) | 7 comments Hi all!

I'm Tasha - I'm 31 and live in Brighton, UK.

I read mainly modern fiction, with some sci-fi and history fiction. I'm currently reading 'A Thousand Ships' by Natalie Haynes as I've discovered I'm quite obsessed with Greek mythology.

My reading goal is fairly low (12) as this is my first time taking on the challenge, but I reckon I can beat that... (she hopes).

Good luck everyone! :)

message 115: by karolina (new)

karolina | 3 comments Hello, my name is Karolina, I’m 21 - completely new to goodreads and have picked up reading again due to lockdown after a long break :)

- I’m from the UK
- I like mystery, crime, fantasy and I still enjoy some YA novels
- My reading goal is 20 books, it’s small so I can get back into the swing of things easily

message 123: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 14 comments Hi! I'm Nicole I'm 19 from Florida and am going to uni in Boston.

My goal this year is at minimum 52 books, but I really hope it will be more. I haven't been able to complete my goals over the years but I realized how much free time I have that I hope I will be able to.

I would like to do either Listopia or Popsugar challenges but what I really want to do is catch up on old books that I feel I need to read (not classics just books I would have read over the years).

I like fantasy, YA, mystery, sci-fi. I'm trying to read more non-fiction because I feel like I should be productive >~<

Ssele P (ssele_p) | 5 comments Hi there! I'm Cristina/Sselene, I've signed up on goodreads years and years ago, but I never used. But I want to go back into reading, cause I kind of letting it go. So I decided to challenge myself, using goodreads to help me along!

message 129: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 1 comments Hi I'm Ruth and I live in the English midlands.

My reading target for this year is 201 (cos I don't like even numbers). It's a lot, but I am an English literature PhD researcher, so sort of cheating! I read a couple of books a week for my research, plus going through all of Sherlock Holmes this year, and loving my Dad's science fiction collection.

message 130: by Carine Surdey (new)

Carine Surdey | 1 comments Hi Everyone! I'm Carine from Binghamton NY (it is upstate, about an hour south of Syracuse). I'm really excited to be part of this group. I absolutely love reading and seriously think that all of the wonderful books that have read in the past year have kept me sane during this pandemic craziness!
I primarily read mystery, thriller, and horror novels, but also will occasionally read a true crime, or autobiography here and there.

Happy New Year!

message 133: by Gabi (gabichandesu) (last edited Jan 09, 2021 09:36PM) (new)

Gabi (gabichandesu) (gabichandesu) | 129 comments Hi everybody, good to be here! I'm Gabi from northern Michigan, and I'm 31 (though I feel so much younger sometimes). I enjoy YA, dystopian, magical, futuristic, post-apocalyptic, mystery, and fantasy- with a little romance and comedy mixed in.

I started using goodreads last year and have become addicted to creating/organizing and adding to lists. I find it very resourceful, and with the new year, I thought it would be fun to join a group :)

Last year my reading goal was 24 books (an average of two per month). I started a little late in the year and didn't hit the books hard enough during the holidays to catch up, so I was three books short of my goal. This year I am also setting a goal for 24 and hope to smash it.

See you around!

message 134: by TamaraT (new)

TamaraT | 22 comments Hello,

I'm Tamara, 35F from the Netherlands, and I found this group by chance. I've already joined some other reading challenges in one of my groups but since I'm having a blast and participating in challenges keeps me motivated...why not join more. 😁

My reading goal this year is 125 books. My favorite genres are fantasy, scify, (paranormal) romance and action. Hope to get to know some of my fellow readers.

My name is Stephanie and I live in the state of Pennsylvania, USA.
I am a major mystery fan!
I am a new empty nester, sort of. Both my children are starting college, but are currently still at home for obvious reasons (Covid). But I no longer have practices, activities or other such events that have to consume my time. So read I must!
My goal is 5 books a month. Crazy!?

I have never used goodreads before, besides reading a book review on it. I have been in a reading slump the past few years I think it's because I've been so busy with school and college work, so I'm trying to get back into reading! My challenge this year is 10 books, not a lot but I'll be happy if I make it and happier if I go over it! I'd like to read more books that have been written by poc and women.

I can't wait to get to know some of you! Hope to hear from you guys soon!

I’m fairly new to Goodreads and found this group when searching for groups with good book recommendations.

My taste in books is quite eclectic- mainly fiction but varying genres. I just like a read with a great storyline and well written

Looking forward to the challenge this year ☺️

Michelle Johnson | 30 comments Hi! I'm Michelle.
- I am from North Dakota
- I love sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, mystery
- I found this group while searching for ideas for different books for the Popsugar challenge prompts :)
- My goal is to read 40 books that fit the prompts on the Popsugar 2021 reading challenge. I am doing this by reading at least 12 YA/Adult novels, and then the rest I am reading with my toddler. I thought it would be a fun way to read some new books with her, and it has gotten us more involved with our public library already!

message 149: by Sam (new)

Sam Thomas | 1 comments Hi to all , Sam is my name from, Ireland.

I will keep it short, as the Gaelic proverb goes ''Say but little and say it well.''

One of my biggest passions in life is books. My goal is to read 52 books in 2021 - 1 book for every week. 52 being an ideal number due to busy work and life - but anything over 52 for me will be a bonus.

Hoping to read more of the classics this year - two of my literacy hero being C.S. Lewis and Charles Dickens. Currently reading Great Expectations , an all time favorite since childhood.

Have a great day and I and wish to all reading this that you too will fulfill your reading goals this year.

Scifi is tough because on the one hand, there isn't only one kind I like, but on the other hand I no longer care for the old ones. I don't care for tons of violence or really dark ones, for sure. I realize you can't see my scifi shelf because of my privacy settings (too many weird people doing friend requests) and I am mostly tired of time travel and books that spend an enormous amount of time describing very different species (btdt many times). I've already read Station Eleven.

Sent you a friend request so you can see my science fiction shelf which isn't nearly complete, but has most of the scifi I have read in the past few years there.
