Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2021
Hi! My name is Sam and I'm from St. Louis, MO. I recently became obsessed with GoodReads because I love tracking all the books I want to read and organizing everything I've read over the years. I saw that there was a "community" tab and thought I'd explore, which is how I found this group!I like to read a lot of classic and modern French literature (Annie Ernaux is my favorite), American modernist/ "Lost Generation" books, general American classics, sociological/ethnographic books, memoirs related to social issues, books about Jewish identity, books about politics, and more. Honestly most of the books I read are in French. I'm sure at 2am I'll be thinking of another genre to add here.
My 2021 reading goal is 25 books or 7,000 pages. I'm starting this year off with American DIrt by Jeanine Cummings.
I don't have much free time during the semester, so I'm trying to read as much as possible over break.

Please check out the group’s reading challenges. I started with Buddy reads and now I can’t stay away from the thread. 😂
Good morning everyone. I’m Sharon from a town called Dumbarton in Scotland. I’m 36 married with 3 children. This is my first time actively being involved with goodreads, thought would try something different for the start of the year. I have a few genes of books I love especially chic-lit, always open to try new suggestions. I’m part of a few book groups on fb where my tbr pile as grown so much with everyone’s recommendations. I love it ☺️How to meet some new friends this year also with the same interests.
Hope everyone is well and safe and happy new year 🥳
Hi All, I am from Florida, US. I like multiple genres, fiction and non fiction. I found this group while searching for 2021 challenge. I hope to get to 50 books this year.
Hey! It’s not my first time trying, but I am terrible at posting. I’m from MN, but just moved to Singapore. Most of my books (I have soooo many) are in MN because I only came over with three suitcases! I thought I’d try to do this challenge during my new adventure!
Book #1 of the year finished.
Prompt 2: The Mysterious Affair at Styles the
Hi! I'm Pe and I'm from Spain. I like most genres and will give almost anything a fair shot. I'm a teacher and a law student, which means I don't have too much time to read for fun. I figured joining some challenges would help motivate me to make an effort and read things other than what I need to for work and school! I've decided to go for a conservative challenge and aim for just 24 books this year, which seems doable enough - I'm excited to be a part of the group!
Hi all, I am from central New Jersey and my goal is to read 100 books this year. I just finished my first book of the year Anxious People which i really enjoyed. I read everything but usually read fiction (most genres) history and biography. This is my first time actually participating and i am looking forward to it.

Heyy my name is Elisa and I am from Brazil. This year I want to read 40 books so I can arrive in a hundred read books. If I can arrive in 30.000 pages read would be good too. (I am in my 65th book, and with 21000 pages) I really like fantasy and well structured romance. That's it. Have a nice day!
I’m Sofia and I’m from Tennessee. I moved to the US 7 years ago and I’m a non-native speaker. I’m trying to read as much as possible to develop my reading and English skills. Previously, I was using another app but I needed something to reinforce me to read more. I have found this app coincidentally last week and I believe that this is what I have been looking for. I love all types of books but I especially enjoy reading fictions and autobiographies. My goal is to read 50 books this year. It is hard while studying/working and having a toddler but this is my dream and I want to achieve it.
Hi everyone I am Wiktoria.I live in Germany in Bavaria but was I born in Poland so I read books in both languages and also in English. I am 17 years old and still a student so my reading time is limited but I try to read as much as possible.
This is my first year using Goodreads. I achieved my goal of 52 books in 2020 so this year I aim to read at least 55.
I love Crime and Thriller and romances but also every other genre. My favorite authors are Sebastian Fitzek, Stephen King an Guillaume Musso.
I wish everyone good luck with their goals :)
Hi. I am Skip (he/him), and I live in Orlando, Florida. I have lived here over half my life, but I grew up in Kentucky (spending a lot of summers in Ontario, Canada). As a young adult, I moved around a bit, living for a time in Kentucky, Ontario, Michigan, and Colorado, before moving here in 1984 and settling down. I am recently retired, so I’m hoping to find a bit more time to read than when I was working. I like to read a wide assortment of books, including various fiction and non-fiction genres, and spanning from the classics to newly published material. Lately I have been finding that 2020 left me wanting to escape into my books more and more, so I have been catching up on some classic science fiction book series that I somehow skipped over in my younger years, such as Frank Herbert’s Dune series and Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series. I’d like to find a new fantasy series to escape into as well, having previously read series by JRRTolkien, CS Lewis, Robert Jordan, and George R R Martin. Having enjoyed each of those, I would welcome suggestions of another series to try out.
I have been setting a challenge goal for each of the past several years, but have never before participated in a group. I thought I would try adding that to my activities on Goodreads. Last year’s goal was a modest 36 books, which I exceeded by one. Since I’m now retired, I thought I was bump that up from three per month to four, giving me a 2021 goal of 48. So far, I have finished one (Asimov’s Foundation and Empire).
Hello.I'm Keith, living north of the wall in SW Scotland. Retired, sometimes grumpy and very occasionally drunk. Enjoy all sorts of literature from poetry to non-fiction to the classics via fantasy/sci fi.
Tried this malarky a couple of years ago, but didn't make it. Hope to do better this time with a wee bit of external support.
Going for a book a fortnight and will do my level best to post once a week.
Annie wrote: "Hi! I'm so excited to be in this group and join discussions and buddy reads! I'm Annie! I'm 24 from Indiana, USA. Any other Hoosiers or Midwest folks in this group? I usually read romance, fantasy ..."Born and bred Hoosier here! Though now I reside in KY. 👋 Your reading goal sounds like the inverse of mine--I read 55 last year and am aiming for 40 this time, hehe. Welcome to the group!

Hi Kathy welcome to the group happy to have you! I hope your goal of 75 comes easy and you have a blast with our group.
Hey guys, my name is Emmy and I'm from the US! I love LOVE fantasy romance (fantasy in general too), dark romances, PNR romance, YA/NA, chick lit/romcom, humor, and a good thriller/horror every now and then lol. Also, I'm a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope :/Fun fact: I've been a member of Goodreads since 2017 but my old account was just me rating books and not getting involved with the community, which I'm doing now! So I decided to just start fresh in December :)
I found this group while scrolling through the groups tab on here. My reading goal is 150 books, wish me luck ;)

My aim is 30 books minimum but may go over with audio books if I can get earphones which don’t annoy me lol.
Hello! I’m Kim from Oklahoma. I prefer thrillers, horror and comedy. Really I like anything but romance. I’ve always been a bookworm but in the last few years I’ve spent less time reading and more time sucked in by social media and phone games. Plan to change that for 2021 and get back to my first love of reading. My goal is 50.
Welcome everyone! Happy new year to you all! I hope that you have fun meeting your reading goal within our group!

The radio station I listen to, told me about "goodreads" and how it really help them jump start on reading more and less time on the computer. Once I got comfortable with the website, I started browsing around when I came to yours.
So I started with 1 book, plus the Bible. This year I am going for 6 books. Why so little you may ask? Because I have 3 jobs, take care elderly parents (91 and 94), their home, and taking care of my household. Also some books are really thick (over 1,000 pages).
I wish you all Joyful Reading!
Hello! I am from Colorado, USA
I love reading YA fantasy, romance, science fiction, but I am also getting into non-fiction motivational and classics!
I found this group because a couple of people I am friends with on Goodreads joined.
My goal is to read 72 books this year, or 6 books a month. Fingers crossed!
Hi everyone. I’m Maura from Colorado, and came to Goodreads through a friend’s recommendation. I’m a nerd for tracking things, including my literary journey. I’ve been exploring books in genres of all types by authors unlike myself, while throwing in my favorite romance authors every few reads. Here’s to a fantastic 2021!
Hi,I’m Katrina.
I’ve set a goal of ten books for this year.
I used to read a lot more, but I’ve had trouble getting my head into it after all the reading I do all day for work. However, I used to read a novel every other day or so when I was younger and I’d like to get back to reading for pleasure more. So, I’ve set a modest goal and my first book is fairly short. I’ve started with The Recipient.

I mainly like crime thrillers and psychological suspense but I recently read Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate, which is more historical fiction, and I really liked it.
I’m looking forward to seeing what others are reading.
Happy New Year!
- Where are you from? I'm from Argentina!- What kinds of books do you like to read? Mostly psychology, ecology, some novels, none fiction, it depends
- How did you find our group? exploring goodreads, thanks to tiktok

Hi book lovers,I am Annapoorni from Hyderabad, India. in the last few years I have been pushing the envelope when it comes to my reading choices. Books are such lovely friends and guides who teach us more about diversity and inclusion. I discovered this group through another Reading Challenge on Facebook.
Looking forward to some great reads, discussions and recommendations.
Hi there! I'm Jillian from Long Beach. A few of my favorite genres include classics, mystery, and science fiction but I appreciate a good suggestion that pushes me out of my comfort zone. Hello, I'm Delphine! they/them pronouns for me, please :]I'm 25 n from brazil! My favorite genre is YA, but I'm trying to branch out of it this year. I found the group accidentally on google, surprisingly! My goal this year is 36 books bc 3 books/month sounds less scary than 4 books/month lmao
It's good to be here!
Hi there!I’m Diana. I’m 25 and from Oakville ON, Canada (just outside of Toronto). I found this group just by searching through various Goodreads lists. I tried to do the challenge last year but only made it to 33 (I blame COVID and meeting my boyfriend). I’m hoping this year I can do at least the initial 40, if not the whole 50.
I love fiction and I read mostly YA, women’s fiction, romance, and historical fiction. But I also love a book that will keep me on my toes and guessing until the very end because that can be exciting, and not normally what I gravitate towards.
I’m starting the challenge with prompt #17: Book with the same title as a song, and I’m reading Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier. Currently on page 137 and definitely pulled into this story. If you like crime novels, I’d recommend it so far.
Hope you are all having a fabulous start to your new year (as best we can given the circumstances) and that we all meet our goals in 2021, whatever they may be.
Happy reading!

Greetings, everyone! Happy new year! I've been a member for a few months now. Last year, my goal was to read five books. I started loads, but finished only one. So this year, my goal is to read 10 - including some of the ones I started last year.
I write books in the mind/body/spirit, wellness, personal development field (pretty much different ways of saying the same thing). Feel free to check out my profile for some of my books. I also tend to read books in this field. This year, my goal is to read more fiction.
Hi all! My name is Lex Van Horn. I'm a University of Idaho student majoring in journalism, although I'm originally from a town about an hour outside of Seattle. I tend to read (or listen to audio forms of) nonfiction, LGBTQ+ romance and fantasy. I recently came back to Goodreads and was looking for a place that would hold me accountable to doing my best to read. I've been struggling to keep up with reading recently due to my studies, so my goal (4 books this year) is pretty low so I can get myself back into the rhythm of reading for myself. I'm a bit quiet in large groups normally, but I'm excited to meet you all!
Hi everyone and happy new year!My name is Emma, I'm from the UK and I'm on a bit of a quest to get back into reading. Since going to University 8 years ago and being busy building my career in Animation I neglected a few of my hobbies on the way, reading unfortunately being one of them. I don't even know what genres I am interested in these days so I'm looking forward to rediscovering them as a member of this group! I'm very excited to meet you all

I'm Crisel, currently living in San Francisco, CA. I make wedding gowns and I'm a tailor by trade. Feel free to friend me, too, specially if you live nearby, I'd love to have more friends!
I'm currently reading The Starless Sea, a copy I blind-bought at Citylights Bookstore about 3 months ago. I was enjoying it a lot but I put it down way too many times and now I feel I have to reread it all over again. So I shall start with this book for my monthly reading challenges.
I love fantasy, mythology, classics, fairytales (like, literal children's stories), science fiction, mysteries and thrillers but I will read other things, too, on occasion.
Despite all that free time, I wasn't able to read as much as I would have liked to last year. I'm aiming for at least 7 books a month, and I'm hoping I find that many books I actually want to read.
