여러분 안녕~I'm Vi from Aotearoa (NZ). I'm an avid reader of K literature (original and translated) and hope to find some interesting recs on this group.
반가워요~!
Hiiii everyoneMy name is Leah and I’m from California.
I found this group from the J-lit group and recognize a few of you 😊
I studied Asian History and East Asian Studies at UCLA.
I’m especially a big fan of Korean pop culture. I often watch K-dramas, listen to K-pop, and read a good amount of Manhwa. My family and I love traveling to South Korea. There are not enough words to explain how amazing of a country it is.
Unfortunately, Korean is the East Asian language I am least fluent in so I do read all K-lit in translation.
Some of my favorite K-lit reads have been, Memoirs of a Korean Queen, I Have the Right to Destroy Myself, and Kim Ji-Young born 1982. I also love reading fantasy books from Korean authors, June Hur and Sophie Kim.
I am very excited to read everyone’s recommendations and thank you! 🫰🏼

Glad that you are here also Leah.
The j-lit and k-lit groups have many friends in common. The moderators of the k-lit group are awesome (yes, i am biased...)

For now I'm happy with translations, but since our library only has a few Korean literature books, I'm a bit lost at where to start. I hope to learn more about the books you're reading so I can maybe buy a few books at some point.
