I read the first couple of chapters last night, I thought the author did a good job of recapping the previous books because I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

I didn't read the previous series. The author does a pretty good job of recapping who everyone is and stuff so I didn't feel like I was missing out.

I did pause after I read the 'read the previous series' comment at the start, but it was alright without. it seems like Kihanna had had some troubles in the previous books, but they were recapped too. I'm glad I didn't read the previous series in fact because I didn't really like this one.
