Susie | 768 comments I think I'm set for my buffet and ready to start reading.
Doing the same 3 I did last year as it was more than enough for me!
For the #5 - Decade Challenge, I did 1950-1959 this year, just going back 100 years to 1850-1859 in 2021.
Ready to go!

I see you already have Wilkie Collins, but if you can live with two he wrote The Dead Secret in 1856.

You have some great choices, enjoy!

Kathleen | 5527 comments These look good, Susie. I loved The Wife, and The Great Gatsby is a favorite. Enjoy!

message 9: by Fee (new)

Fee | 121 comments Interesting choices. I also want to read The Black Tulip soon. I added Villette and These Old Shades to my want to read-shelf.

message 10: by Ila (new)

Ila | 710 comments I'm reading The black tulip and The woman in white too this time. The great Gatsby was well, great.

I didn't get to The Great Gatsby last year 😉, but with your recommendation I will be reading it sooner rather than later this year!

These Old Shades is one of many by Georgette Heyer that are easy and enjoyable reads for me so I try to read at least one of her books every year.
Hope you enjoy as well.

I am impressed that you are trying 1850s as your Decade Challenge. That is challenging. I hope you enjoy your selections.

Susie | 768 comments Not behind in reading, but definitely behind in updating!
You can check my progress above in the original challenge posts.

Where I stand:

#1 - Old and New -
I'm almost halfway with 5/12(14) read.
My top 2 favorites, so far are The Secret Garden and Villette.

I was really looking forward to The Great Gatsby and while I liked the writing, there was such crushing emptiness and vapidness reflected in so many of the characters that it affected me.
Great writing, I guess?

# 5 - Decade Challenge - 1850-1859
I've only read 2/10, one about Charlotte Brontë and Villette, written by her.

# 7 - Group Reads Challenge -
I'm moving right along with 4/12 read.
Keep them coming!
