I liked your review, Diana. When I read the book, what stood out for me was the characters' dialogue. It is so real. This is a book that has touched so many people. I am waiting for the author's new book to come out, which will look at another member of Starr's family.

I read some interesting things in the book Black Klansman: Race, Hate, and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime by Ron Stallworth where he traces the BLM movement and where it came from. In addition to overseeing an undercover KKK investigation (he did all the phone and correspondence but had to send a white police officer into face to face meeting), he was also undercover at Black Panther and PLO meetings, etc. He was the first black police officer in Colorado Springs.

This book is really powerful in describing the reality of being a black person. But there are also many other lessons in the book. I liked the Carter family very much. They are very friendly, supportive, forgiving, and caring. Although they cope with a lot of difficulties, I'd like to have such a family. It was also interesting to see how Starr's relationship with Chris (white boy) would develop.
One thing I didn't like is the way black people fought for justice. They destroyed everything that belonged to white people who hadn't done anything bad for them. I think that the best weapon is the voice, as Ms. Ofrah said.
