Ellen | 3551 comments While sorting through a new set of photographs she just picked up from the developer, Grace Lawson is surprised to see an older photo in the bunch, one that appears to be at least 15-20 years old. While she cannot identify the 5 people in the photo, one of them looks very much like a younger version of her husband Jack. Grace is confused about how the photo ended up in the envelope. Later that night she shows the picture to Jack. Although he insists it is not him in the picture he suddenly leaves the house with no explanation. Grace has no idea where he has gone and when and if he will return.

A lethal killer is also on the trail of the people in the photograph. Eric Wu is a hired assassin and can dispatch his victims in torturous ways using only his powerful hands. His stealth is one of his finest assets but this time he has been noticed by a suburban housewife and Wu's life is about to get very complicated.

A young lawyer sitting across from a convicted murderer in prison learns that an accidental death 15 years ago was actually a murder. Astounding information, especially as the victim was the lawyer's own sister.

All of these different story lines are connected to one another in a complicated plot that just sizzles with tension. It was an exciting ride but I cannot say that I was a fan of the ending. It was complicated and confusing but that does not take away from the first 99% of the book.
