Claire (f20clarity) | 2 comments I read this book series (I think there was more than one) in elementary school with my mom, so they must have been published in the late 1990's or before. All we can really remember is that the protagonist, who we think was a young girl, but we're not sure, travels back in time to the 1700s (maybe?), possibly with some kind of magic ring. She ends up at some kind of castle, and we remember there being a scene where germs are discussed and the protagonist explains what they are. There may or may not have been some kind of nurse character. That's all we can remember and it's driving us crazy! Any ideas??

Tab (tabbrown) | 4999 comments here are a few books with time travel books

The Secret of the Ruby Ring The Secret of the Ruby Ring by Yvonne MacGrory

The Magic Attic series has time travel, but using a mirror

Do you remember the cover(s)?
Were there any other fantasy elements besides the time travel? Like witches, trolls, dragons, etc?

One of Andre Norton's Magic series perhaps? There were a number of them, and many dealt with time travel. A couple that I remember the titles of right off the top of my head are Red Hart Magic Dragon Magic Seven Spells To Sunday I know that there are more, but I can't come up with their names right now, and unfortunately, many of my books are still packed up (we moved this summer) so I can't go check them.

According to this: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... topic they teach all the people to was their hands, and somehow travels back to present day where they find out that the reason his ancestors survived is because they were more clean on them selves when some or other plague came around. so it may tie up with the germs discussion.
