An innkeeper who reads minds. An ornery detective. And a trail of bodies. Cider Cove is the premiere destination for murder.

My name is Bizzy Baker, and I can read minds—not every mind, not every time but most of the time, and believe me when I say it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, has the ability to pry into the darkest recesses of both the human and animal mind, and has just stumbled upon a body. With the help of her kitten, Fish, a mutt named Sherlock Bones and an ornery yet dangerously good looking homicide detective, Bizzy is determined to find the killer.

Cider Cove, Maine is the premiere destination for fun and relaxation. But when a body turns up, it’s the premiere destination for murder.

*A laugh out loud cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore and her partner in cozy crime, Bellamy Bloom*

It's actually a fun series, and fits a lot of prompts in the individual challenge. I look forward to finding out what you think about the books.

Celia Buell (celiareadsbooks) | 2771 comments Okay, finally planning on resuming this this week. I wanted to read Dog Days of Murder in time for Halloween, but it was not to be. At least I'll get to read Santa Claws Calamity before Christmas.

The books definitely get better and Bizzy gets less annoying (though some the wacky side characters just get more annoying). I put most of the books at 3-4 stars (with the exception of Just Buried, which I adored and gave 5 stars). I think overall the series is kind of fluffy fun -- entertaining enough, but nothing you'll want to come back to to read over and over again.

Good to know. I have at least the next two that I'll read at some point (the omnibus was free a few months ago) and then I'll see whether I'll continue.

Celia Buell (celiareadsbooks) | 2771 comments Okay, I've totally been doing my omnibus calculations wrong and I'm still not exactly sure how to do it but I've missed my check-ins for Dog Days of Murder (Country Cottage Mysteries #2) by Addison Moore . Anyway

The animals are one of the most redeeming things about this series so far!

I adore all of the animals. Fish and Sherlock Bones are in every book and they're hilarious. I do agree that there is a same-ness for a lot of the books. I'm not sure I'd keep reading the series if it wasn't a buddy read and each book fit a prompt for the quarterly individual challenge. Aside from Just Buried, which I thought was a departure and I adored it, a lot of the books are alike. Not bad, but not terribly different.
