History
Sara-Mae Alcott's parents, Louisa and John, were both Sixes from birth. Louisa started out working for one of the big, rich families in Angeles, whereas John worked in the palace stables. When the current king had his Selection many years ago, Louisa was hired to take the place of some maids who were now helping Selected girls. As the then-prince was falling in love with his wife, John was falling in love with Louisa. They got married after being together for one and a half years.

Soon after marriage, the couple began to feel a strong want for a child. Both had dreamed their whole lives of having a large family. Sadly, they had much trouble conceiving. Then, having almost given up hope, Louisa had amazing news. She was pregnant! Not only that, but she was going to have triplets.

9 months later, the triplets were born: Isabel, Arianne, and Olivia. After that, the couple's luck only grew. They had a set of twins, Naomi and Juliet. They had another set of twins soon after: Sara-Mae, Sadie, and Skylar. Sara-Mae was technically only third youngest, as she was born just 7 minutes before her triplet sisters. Of course, she was still 4 years younger than Isabel, Arianne, and Olivia.

Sara-Mae and her large family lived in a very small home on the edge of the palace property. Louisa worked as a maid, despite her age, and John still worked at the stables. The girls all got jobs helping out in the kitchens at a young age. Sara-Mae, true to her nature, dreaded the coming of the day she'd have to start working. It came anyways, as nothing can stop the passing of time. She sucked it up and did it anyways. Sara-Mae actually turned out to be pretty good at it, and was promoted to maid at the age of 15.

Even though she was a maid, Sara-Mae was still pretty low in the ranks. She was young, and had never worked as a maid before. She was stuck doing all the dirty jobs, like cleaning bathrooms and tending to fires. Still, she stuck on. Good things come to those who wait. Finally, when the prince became of age, Sara-Mae was promoted to one of the "room maids," or a maid who gets to actually work in one of the bedrooms, just like her mother.

Now, Sara-Mae is waiting anxiously for the Selected girls to arrive, hoping for one that doesn't need anything from her.

People have told her several times that she happens to look much like the singer Sky Ferreira of the second caste, but Charlie has never thought so. She's got a watered down look to her--haggard, tired, overworked. She's got a pouty set of lips that set off her feline-like eyes. Which, by the way, are a dark brown that some see as black. However, the sensuality of her face, as she sees it, is diminished by the lack of voluptuous curvature. She's not one of those girls that can work that look, though. She's not very tall, just below five feet, and it's quite sad to see her stand in line with those so much taller than her. She thinks she looks like a child. Though, she does have a few ticks that are bound to be noticed.

In the event that Charlie's mental state is finally, finally evaluated, they may see that she has a severe case of OCD. It has become something that has ruled her life, made it hard for her to function. She's been popping pills for years, hoping that one will stick. However, none seem to last long enough for her to be a proper human being, and she's on to the next. She a fairly self-depreciating person, unaware of any of her good points because she's so focused on the bad ones. She doesn't see that dedication she has, or the ways she spots little details. She thinks it a curse, a part of her condition. It is, but it has helped her as a maid. Everything is neat and orderly, because if it's not it drives her crazy. She can't stand things being out of order, out of line.

Charlie's a fairly timid person. She's not good with people, or interactions of any kind. Especially with part of her OCD acting up. Some things she says in response to others don't sound right, so she says it again. And again. And again, until she gets it right. Having her routine disrupted is also one way you could possibly destroy her, watch her crumble. She has a way of doing things that feel right to her; interrupting that usually has her in a fit. Some people have seen her fall apart over it, and questioned her actions. But, she knows the whole truth behind it. If she doesn't come undone in public, she will in private.
( likes :: order · organization · flowers, rose in particular · the color blue · cake
( dislikes :: disorder · her condition · her routines · people remarking on her behavior · repeating herself
( strengths :: meticulous · orderly · attentive
( weaknesses :: her OCD · disruption of her routine

history
Charlomine never suspected that she's normal until it was too late. Her parents, two fairly busy people that worked long days and nights, didn't have time to notice. They didn't see her particular need for order as anything wrong. They, in fact, embraced it, welcomed it. They praised her for being neat, for keeping things straight. They did see it as peculiar when she'd cry or not enter room, because she "didn't like the cracks". They didn't see much of a problem with it; they thought it easy to manage.

The only real moment of panic they had before they were struck with the realization of something wrong was when Charlie had just turned ten. She was doing an odd sort of thing--locking the door one, two, three, four, five, tapping the base of the light switch one two three, bouncing in the doorways before she enters a room one two three four five six seven before kicking the door on her way in once. They noticed the odd things she did, started paying more attention. They saw her jump over cracks, measure her steps. It dawned on them that Charlomine wasn't in the midst of a phase. It seemed to routine--too often done--for it have started only recently.

They took her to a doctor, and instead of helping only managed to make it worse. The man was disorderly, papers everywhere. Ironic, considering the kinds of patients he saw. She broke, then and there. Watching her struggle was only more confirmation that things were not okay, and they left immediately. They found someone else, someone better. Someone neat. From then on, she would be taking a number of medications, that in turn altered her indefinitely.

Since then, all that Charlomine has been concerned with is being normal. School was a struggle, having to break her routines. She slowly crumbled, and would spend a week or more recovering. Her parents would assure her that she would be alright, but it never worked. She was always, always aware of how different she was.

There was a time when she went off her medication and attended school. Her routines returned, slowly at first. Little things that people didn't totally notice. She was feeling better, then suddenly she wasn't. She was broken, so completely by this thing.

The years passed, ruled by pill after pill, and Charlie got a job as a maid in the palace, working for the girls of the Selection. She isn't sure what to expect, or what to do since she just stopped her latest medication.

Clem doesn't believe in fate. She doesn't believe in destiny. She doesn't even believe in any sort of deity. Clem believes in what she can feel, see, hear, smell, and taste. That's the main reason she moved out the day she turned 18. Her parents annoyed her with their constant talks of how if they just waited, some big miracle would happen. Newsflash: that's not how it works. Before then, Clem had always been rebellious, whether by keeping the cash she got from cleaning somebody's house or breaking curfew. It's just how she is. Without the risk, where's the fun? However, even with her rebellious ways, Clem has always been a hard worker. She's extremely motivated (by money, mainly) to do a good job. She just wishes she could be doing the job she loves. Clem can get frustrated pretty easily. Really, it's just lots of small things that all add up, but the explosion can be very bad. It even got her fired once from one of the best jobs she'd ever had. Clem is extremely loyal to her close friends and family though she couldn't care less for any stranger.

H I S T O R Y :
Clementine Akasha Blakely was born on January 24 in the snowy province of Atlin. It was so cold the day of her birth that her parents, Emily and Jackson, were the only ones to see Clem for the first week of her life. Clem likes to think being stuck with them and nobody else for a week seriously made her hate them. That's probably not true, though. In any case, Clem's mother was a maid, and her father was a restaurant waiter. As Sixes, they couldn't afford for any sort of childcare, so Clem grew up being taken with her mother to work.

For most of Clem's childhood, her mother worked at the house of a family called the Robertson's. The parents were very rich, as they were the managers and owners of a large ballet company and academy. They happened to have a little girl, named Ava, who was just Clem's age. The Robertson's weren't much for the caste system, so Clem would always be sent to play with Ava. Together, they explored the whole house and stumbled on some old DVDs of famous ballets. The two young girls watched each one from start to finish and were amazed at it all. Ava decided that it'd be fun to dance like the ballerinas they saw, and so they began private lessons. Clem got to go to them just because Ava demanded so. From then on, Clem was hooked. At the time, she was just turning 5, however, and had to start public school. Every afternoon, though, Ava and her would practice their dancing.

Clem soon got to be quite good at ballet, considering her age. Still, when Ava got to perform for all her family and friends, Clem had to stand back and watch. It wasn't right for a Six to be dancing. The lessons continued though, just because Ava demanded. When Clem hit age 9, she decided she was going to become a professional dancer, like it or not. She made the plan to take every job she could and save all of the money to buy her way up a caste. This meant she could only dance two days a week. That was alright, though: she would sacrifice it now but make up for lost time later.

Besides that, Clem had fairly ordinary teenage years. She dated a few boys but never liked them much at all. Her type is mostly Fives. She fought with her parents only a bit more than was usual. She broke the rules as is to be expected but got away with it. She made plans of how much to work so she could buy her way up a caste (not telling your parents about your work is the best way to keep all of your money, in case you were wondering). Ava and her stayed best friends, though maybe not as close as when they were little and spent all their time together. The ballet lessons stopped when Ava decided she'd rather do modeling, sadly.

Clem had no interest in the Selection. Okay, maybe she had a little bit. Getting to be a Three would be good because then she could buy her way to become a Two. She didn't get picked, anyways, so it was just fine. The next day, Clem heard from another maid of the family she was working for that the palace was looking for extra maids to help during the Selection. Clem figured it was a pretty good deal, even with all the rebel attacks; you got a pretty decent salary, plus a place to stay and food to eat. She just hopes she doesn't have to serve the royal brats, though it would be unlikely.

One problem with Carrie is that she is a pathological liar. Whether it is to get on someone's good side, to save her own skin, to keep others from pain, or just simply because she can, lies seem to roll off her tongue nearly every time she speaks.
She is also rather emotional. If yelled at or shushed rudely, she will cry. She also cries easily when proud of others. If embarrassed, her cheeks turn a very deep red. It is rather easy to see her emotions played out upon her face.
While she is a daydreamer, and is often caught up in her thoughts, she is a very diligent worker, especially when the prince is around. She is infatuated with the prince, and desperately hopes to catch his eye, even though a part of her knows this will never happen.

Caroline grew up as an orphan. She never knew her parents. As far as she knew, she was left at the orphanage recently after being born. She never had a true chance at being anything but a six, never had a chance of having a beautiful life.
When she was just twelve years old, she was sent to work at the palace. She had a pretty face, and the royal family seemed to like to have pretty workers. When she got there, the first person she truly spoke to was the Prince. Although, at the time, she did not know it was him, she simply thought he was another worker. And so she spoke freely, talking about her life growing up, talking about baking. Often, she would bake him treats. She had always had a knack for baking, but never wanted to eat what she made. She simply had a joy in the process of creating.
Of course, his parents found out and all communications between the two were put to an end. Yet, occasionally, Carrie would bake treats and sneak them into his room. She harbors quite the infatuation for the Prince still, but has no chance. She hopes, perhaps, some day, they will be at least friends again.
▒ Fᴀᴍɪʟʏ :
Unknown. She is an orphan.
