The Great Alone

The Great Alone

"it was otherworldly somehow, magical in its vast expanse." Alaska is definitely a character in the novel. How do you think the landscape helped create and shape the story?

I think the landscape was an equal character alongside the human characters in this story. The characters constantly had to move and shape their habits and reactions around nature. The brutality of the environment wholeheartedly amplified the danger of living in that abusive relationship because there was nowhere else to turn most of the time.
