Neus (neusfigueras) | 4 comments Call from the indigenous communities, environmental activists, firefighters and volunteers that are fighting to slow the spread of the fires in the Pantanal Biome―the world’s largest tropical wetland:

We will not accept that the Pantanal Biome will be transformed into a soybean or sugar cane field or pasture for cattle breeding. Until the sky falls upon us, we will defend Pantanal as the realm of waters and the shelter for one of the greatest sources’ biodiversity in the Americas.

Millions of acres are on fire at the western United States too, and during the last dry season it was the same in Australia.

Despite the color of our skin or the language we speak, we are one people and we are allies in protecting the shared futures of our children. For too many years those that spread death and destruction across our world for the sake of another dollar have been in control, the time has come to the end these crimes against nature and humanity.
