I knew he wasn't imagining the body on the road. I figured it was Dena Miller. I was just trying to figure out a scenario where she ends up there. I didn't know if someone dumped the body, then came back to pick it up, or if she wondered out on the road on her own.
That was a very confusing scene. I had no doubt Mac saw a body and was almost 100% certain it was Dena but it made no sense for her to be there and then disappear. Poor woman.
We had already been given the information about Dena Miller going missing, so I didn't think he was imagining it at all. I understood from the scenes from Dena and the killer's POVs that Dena managed to get out of the trunk and escape (not exactly sure how if the car was moving). The killer tracked her through the woods and then found her in the road. Obviously, this was after she collapsed there and Mac swerved to miss her. Mac was clearly out for a couple of minutes perhaps longer so the killer had time to take her.
I wasn't sure where the author was going to go with this scene. At first I believed he saw a body. However, I thought about it for a few seconds and thought that he was hallucinating then I went back to believing it was Dena.
I didn't doubt for a minute that the woman was real or that it was Dena. I also didn't think her body was dumped there. I thought "good for you, Dena, you got away." I was sorry when he found her and punished her.
Jonetta wrote: "I wonder what would have happened if Mac hadn’t lost consciousness. Would he have attacked Mac?"I didn't think Dena got away. I thought it was a plan to get Mac off track by thinking he was losing his mind.
I'm sure he would have killed Mac if he was at the scene.

I actually thought the killer would go after Stella and that he took Mac as bait to lure her. In hindsight, Mac was the more appropriate target given his previous addition and the killer's "mission".
