Read: Oct 20
Rating: 4 stars
Qualifies: Lucy Kincaid series expected publication = Oct 27, 2020
Review: Lucy and Sean are becoming one of my favorite book couples (yes, I have several🙄). I really like how they compliment one another and support each other. I can't decide between the two who I like more. Finally, in this book, Lucy is at Quantico for training and I really enjoyed the scenes that focused on different aspects of their training. Mystery was good as usual. Looking forward to continuing the series.

The Tracker Hive Academy: Year Three
Read: 20th October
Pages: 335
Rating: 3 stars
Qualifies: Jade Storm Tracker series #6 book expected publication in 2021
Review: This was OK, I wasn't blown away by it and I wasn't unable to put it down.
Jade's drama and attitude was really grating in this book, she is not a perfect character to begin with but she felt very bratty in this and the addition of Liselle didn't distract me either.
Thanks Megan for catching it. That's what I get for staying up late to finish. I think I was more impressed that I was able to add a link using the browser on my phone.

Blood TradeRead: 10/20
Pages: 336/GR
Rating: 5 Stars
Qualifies: Jane Yellowrock Series Next book is to be published in 2021.
Review: Wow, I think this is the first time I actually had tears in my eyes while reading a Jane Yellowrock book. Of course, there was the usual blood, guts, and gore, but this time Jane was out to rescue an old schoolmate whose daughter is dying from leukemia. God, just about yanked my heart right out of my chest, especially the scene in the church. I was blown away by all of the emotion in this one. Jane is usually so stoic, but she actually cried tears this time around. Anyway, I loved the book and am excited to read the next one.

review: I like this series, I do wish I had not jumped to book 5 after reading book 1 as I do feel I missed a little of the back story. I'm a hit or miss for the insta love/insta attraction but this one worked for me. I liked the chemistry between Judy and Rick and preferred the conflict (attempted kidnapping and kidnapping) over the typical misunderstanding conflict that usually happens in these types of books. I hope Meg's character gets a chance to star in a book of her own. I am going to go back and read the books in between.

Loving JuliaRead: 10/21
Pages: 387/GR
Rating: 5 Stars
Qualifies: see book cover above
Review: This is one of my old favorites, from way back in the day. Julia and Sebastian are one of the most romantic couples of the old 80's romances. Seb is cold and distant, followed by whispers that he murdered his wife. Julia is a street urchin, but Seb takes her and tutors her in the manners of being a lady. I think the scenes when Julia is first being tutored are my favorite. She is hilarious, and manages to even make Sebastian laugh. Of course, there is a crazy bad guy, and Julia ends up in "grave danger", but it all turns out right in the end. Definitely a feel-good story.

I think I'm more of a Catherine Bybee fan then Lisa Kleypas fan.
I think I read your Loving Julia book pre goodreads, Alicia!

The Billionaire's Secrets
Read: 22nd October
Pages: 272
Rating: 4 stars

Review: This was a nice story but I don't think I enjoyed it as much as the others in this series. I think it was interesting, with him being an addict and how they were sort of linked without him knowing it.
I do like this series its pretty good with the twists and reading each characters hang ups and how they deal with them or don't deal with them as the case usually is.

I love most of the Hathaways series, but this is one of the better stories. I’ve read them all so many times it’s like visiting old friends 😊.
I enjoyed the Catherine Bybee book I read, but I’ve been a LK fan for so long now, I think she’s one of those authors like Nora Roberts, where I’ve read just about everything she’s ever written.
Yes, let’s hear it for the good old 80’s historical romances! I just love them. 😁

Gardenias and a Grave Mistake
Read: 22nd October
Pages: 211
Rating: 3 stars
Qualifies: Flower on the cover
Review: This was OK...
I found it difficult to get into and I'm not sure if that was me or the book to be honest. Its a little slow and not very mysterious in the end of it all.
Some of the characters arn't very likeable and I wasn't sure I even liked the MC really. The only saving grace was the dog.

Review: I enjoyed this book. I like the characters and group of friends. The plot and story kept me interested even though I didn't feel the chemistry between the two main characters as I did in book 1. Zod, the police dog added a little humor to the story.

Review: Leo and Marks are wonderful together. Marks is so secretive and scared at first, but Leo's persistence wins her in the end. The plot of the story is pretty typical for a historical romance, but the chemistry between Marks and Leo keeps the story fresh and interesting, even after reading it a dozen times.

Here is Task 20:85. Each teammate reads a debut book by an author. No pass for this task.
The books you select for this task need to be the first published work for the author. The author's profile often includes this, otherwise look at the list of their work for the earliest one included. If you got the info from the author's website, please include a link to the site.

Room for You
Read: 23rd October
Pages:359 - using the page count from the kindle edition it was first published from. The one I read was lower according to GR and Amazon though at 306 but it doesn't say first edition just going off what was published first.

Review: This wasn't bad just a bit bland. I didn't hate reading it but I wouldn't rush to read it again.
I think some sport romances are really steamy and full of chemistry but this was just a little flat and dull. The characters were fine, the setting was fine just no fire and it just wasn't a page turner for me.
I' m a little distracted today. My dad is getting the covid-19 test this morning. Hopefully he has a seasonal virus and not covid-19. Yesterday, we had 4 cases total so its likely something else.
Fingers crossed its not covid. No worries, I just wanted to get it finished. I've had a hectic couple of days. Works been crazy and unfortunately our managing director (the founder) of our company died wednesday night of bowel cancer so we're all distracted but its so busy from customers we can't stop. Also just had a 2nd person test positive from work but they won't say who it is. Just hoping they used track and trace.
Oh, Megan, sorry to hear that. That definitely sounds like a crazy, stressful couple of days. I see you rated Room For You similarly to me. The second book was worse than the first book.
Its been a week thats for sure.Ergh, I'm not bothering reading the 2nd book def won't if you say its bad. I have no time for books that are bland.
Megan wrote: "Its been a week thats for sure.Ergh, I'm not bothering reading the 2nd book def won't if you say its bad. I have no time for books that are bland."
Yeah, I thought I'd try it and see because second books are sometimes better but I doubt I'll continue the series. You might like it more then me but I thought it was blah.
I can't find anything that looks good so I'm going to read the same book as Megan. I like sports romances so we'll see how it goes 😊

Review: I thought this was a cute story. I liked both characters, and the kids were really cute. But I agree with Megan, there wasn't any real fire or passion between the hero and heroine. I wouldn't object to reading the other books in the series, but I'm not going to go out of my way to read them either.

review: Ugh, this was just too over the top with all the steamy scenes and lack of everything else. Women can be strong female leads without threatening everyone around them and slapping men when you don't agree with what's going on. Such a disappointment as I liked the Dirty Deeds series.
Laura wrote: "All checked in :-) Hopefully, everyone enjoys their next read better!"
I’m hoping for an awesome one for next time. I’ve got too many mediocre books on my read list this year.
I've got you complete for Task 20 and will assign Task 21 tomorrow as soon as I get to the computer. 😊I hope things get easier for all of you.
Here is Task 21:99. Each teammate lists 5 favorite books. Select books from 2 different teammates and read them.
Each of you lists 5 favorite books and then, because you are a team of three, you would read one book from each teammate's list. So this is a total of 2 books each (one from each teammate's list) for this task.
So I took a look and we preplanned this one. Our lists are at the bottom of post 11. I think I'll start with Megan's recommendation of the Catherine Bybee book.

Review: This was a sweet HEA with the single mom/ billionaire trope, throw in two meddling sisters who want to help and its a cute story. Thanks for the recommendation Megan, I enjoyed this book.

Review: I'm not one to read a lot of historical books but this was pretty good. I enjoyed the regency parts of this book and the way Sara and Mr Craven meet. Its quite enthralling their romance.
Surprised I liked this so much.
