Dune! Dune looks so good! Yay Dune! Save us! Help us escape! Actually, we’re pretty good on that front as Ten Thousand Doors of January is helping us all escape. And we’re also pretty bulllish on the team putting together a TV adaptation of Three-Body problem for Netflix. EVERYTHING IS GREAT!

The other movie Tom was trying to remember that was similar to Armageddon was Deep Impact

We could read National Lampoon's Doon

Yep. That was one of the earlier picks. I was on semi-long term work travel when we were reading it. I remember trying both audiobook and Kindle and not being able to get into either. I believe that was one of my first Lems. Interestingly (to me anyway), I was in Vernon, NJ, the site of (Tr)Action Park, which is now the subject of an HBO Max documentary, Class Action Park. Memories...

Trike | 8768 comments Re: Dune - I’m optimistic about the movie, I’m just bored by the Generic Blockbuster Trailer formula, which doesn’t do the movie any favors.

Tamahome | 6352 comments Maybe Three Body Problemo will be like The Wandering Earth movie? That was based on a Liu Cixin novella, same author. Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TDII...

That movie is utterly bonkers. Even more so than 3bodprob.

I'm hoping Three-Body Problem will be better than The Wandering Earth.

TWE was ok as an action packed popcorn flick, but I want more from TTBP. It is deeper and has a lot more thought provoking material.

There are some great action set pieces as well

Joseph | 2294 comments Not to doubt your doubting, but Nancy Springer gets a writer credit on the Enola Holmes IMDB page ... :)

Sheila Jean | 325 comments Michael J Sullivan's beta read for Nolyn is underway, but he mentioned in his latest update you can still apply for Beta and Gamma reading future opportunities.

(9/13 update in his 'review' linked below).

Springer is also promoting it on her website: https://www.nancyspringer.com/

IMDB isn’t always accurate, though, because anyone can add things, just like a wiki. For instance, for years it listed Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson) as a sister to Angela Cartwright (The Sound of Music, Lost in Space), but they aren’t related at all. That’s why I always doublecheck with other sources.

Lee (the Book Butcher) (butcherfromgeorgia) Man I've never read anything by Michael J Sullivan's. Missed my chance.
