This score went up do the the fabulous audiobook; I am not sure that I would have liked this had I read it in print.

Two of my kids read this book while growing up, but I had no idea what it was about until it worked for a reading game and I could get it on audio (the audiobook is very well done). A 12 year old mastermind millionaire pits himself against the fairy realm in the 21st century in order to steal a lot of gold. Both sides underestimate each other. These aren't your traditional fairies that rely solely on magic; they have some high tech stuff, much masterminded by Foaly (a centaur, and I am guessing this punny name is fun for the target audience--on audio it sounds just like the real surname of Foley).

This is one of my family's favorite road trip listens. It is the perfect length to get us round trip to and from a grandparent's house.
