Melanie Moreland (melaniemoreland) | 59 comments Deciding on a 'real' town name or a made up one when writing a novel can be some fun research. These are funny. What's the funniest town name you've read?

B. C. Booklover (bcbooklover) | 368 comments How about Intercourse, (Lancaster County) PA!

Glittergirl | 2 comments These aren't funny but they are towns in Oregon that burned to the ground and have to rise from the ashes if you want to memorialize them...
Holiday Farm Fire-McKenzie Valley: Vida, Blue River, Nimrod, Rainbow
Santiam Valley: Detroit,
Southern Oregon: Phoenix, Talent
There are others in Washington and California...

B. C. Booklover (bcbooklover) | 368 comments Melanie- glad you loved it!

Glittergirl- nice idea to remember towns ravaged and ruined by those fires!

(Grace) Kentucky Bohemian (kentuckybohemian) Kentucky is full of great ones. we've got Stab, Stinking Creek, and Little Hope to name a few. My favorite, however, maybe a little place in North Carolina called Granny Squirrel.

Shel | 23 comments We have a town called Peck in Louisiana. It's so small that the Police station is the size of a Photomat.
We also have Westlake. Literally sits on the west bank of Lake Charles and the Calcasieu River. One main drag through town where all of the essential businesses are and the old Main street runs along the river.

There may be others, but I know there is a Licking County in Ohio. It's not that far out of Columbus if that helps you.
