Since the Trail was founded in February, 2012, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter has been selected by members as a group read four times. It is the most read novel by Trail Members. As Diane said in Initial Impressions, for her this is a masterpiece. I agree. My review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 414 comments I read this with my F2F book group before joining Goodreads.

Snippet from my brief review: A poignant tale of abject loneliness.

Excellent review, BC. May be short, but it pretty much says it all.

Libby - On gardening hiatus | 139 comments I have wanted to read this book forever, so I'm very happy this was a selection this month. I was determined to finally read it. This story didn't carry me away with its plot, but I did enjoy (mostly) trying to understand the characters.

Here's my review:

Lori Keeton | 443 comments I do love the characterization that was prevalent in this story. Amazing that a 23 year old could write with such depth. It makes me wonder what she experienced in her short life that she must have written about what she knew.
There was a darkness here with a smidge of hope but I wanted a bit more in the end for Mick, especially.

Still marinating on a review but will post it when I'm finished.
