Florian (laughingflow) | 241 comments Dear OSS members.

I'm writing this thread to ask for help/suggestions regarding access to books. Due to the sanitary crisis independent bookstore supplies have been significantly impacted. As a result, the availability of books from abroad has drastically declined.

In France, I used to buy my books from lalibrairie.com, a group of independent booksellers. However, I was not able to get Betraying big brother and So you want to talk about race to both read it and drop a few copies in free libraries.

So, to the people living in France, do you have any suggestions of booksellers? Also, I don't want to buy from Amazon or companies owned by Amazon for ethical reasons.

Thanks a lot to anyone who'll reply.

Warm regards,
Florian.

Florian (laughingflow) | 241 comments Thanks for your answer. I'll take a look at it.

Edit: sadly, they do not have available copies of the books we have been reading. Anyway, thank you for this suggestion. It might help later.

Pernicious (laconiclibrary) | 1 comments you can try ordering from the UK, since they probably have more of a selection and you won’t have to pay for US shipping.

Claire (clairestream) | 3 comments I frequently order from gibert.com, it's both second hand and new books. You can set an alarm "alerte dispo" for books unavailable. I see that "so you want to talk about race" is present on Gibert but not currently available. Just create an account and set the "alerte dispo" and you will receive an email when it's available.

Hannah | 23 comments I know several independent bookstores in the U.S. are shipping books right now. You might not want to pay the shipping, though. Maybe indie bookstores closer to you would have a copy, like in the U.K. as someone else mentioned?

@Claire: I see I'm not the only one who use Gibert Joseph. Hihi!
I've never used the alarm thing though.

@Hannah: thanks for the advice. I've ordered a few other books Pam suggested, so I should have some reading about racism. I've started "Me and white Supremacy".
