Linda Street-Ely (lindastreetely) | 21 comments Dear Goodreads:

I have tried twice to send messages thru Goodreads, but I am not seeing any action taken. I tried your Contact Us and your servers are down. Can we please get the problems straightened out and get the right books attributed to me? I like having an author page on Goodreads, but it does not help to have bad information.

Issue 1: Please remove is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3....
Goodreads currently includes the wrong edition of the book, “Cowlick” as one of the options. It is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3..., which was the first edition. I unpublished over a year ago. I am the author and copyright owner. I do not wish it to show anywhere. It does not appear on Amazon. Only the second edition does: https://www.amazon.com/Cowlick-Linda-..., ISBN: 978-1-947677-01-2. Please do the same.

Issue 2: Please remove the illustrator’s name from the information in https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4....
When I published this second edition, I did NOT include the illustrator’s name. I removed (unpublished) the first edition from Amazon, and re-published under my own imprint, Paper Airplane Publishing, LLC, and in Bowker, I did NOT include the illustrator’s name at all. Therefore, the illustrator’s name should not appear anywhere. The ONLY edition in which the illustrator’s name was included was the first one, which I used CreateSpace to publish, and then unpublished it. I do not understand how the illustrator’s name is showing on my second edition in Goodreads, when it is not showing in Amazon, and when I did NOT include it on Bowker when I published the second edition. Please remove the illustrator’s name from the listing. See my attached screenshot depicting what needs to be removed. This did not get published with the illustrator’s name on it, so there is no reason to show it.

Issue 3: Please add my name as one of the contributing authors to “Tales of Texas: Short Stories, Volume 2” in all its formats. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5.... You will see in the description of this book, “…Journey to Junction where a community rallies together to honor one of the own after tragedy occurs…” That refers to MY story, which won first place in the contest to be in this book. I am shown as an author of this on Amazon – https://www.amazon.com/Linda-Street-E.... Please add this to my Goodreads Author page, or make it so that I can add it.

Issue 4: Please add “When We Move to Heaven: A family love story,” published by me (my company, Paper Airplane Publishing, LLC) in December, 2018.
It is listed here: https://www.amazon.com/When-We-Move-H..., ISBN-13: 978-1947677005. Please add this to my Goodreads Author page or make it so that I can add it.

Issue 5: Please remove from your listings immediately the earlier edition of “When We Move to Heaven: A family love story” that was published by Xulon Press in 2009: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1..., ISBN 1607910373 (ISBN13: 9781607910374). I ended my relationship with Xulon Press in August, 2017. You are on notice in accordance with the Digital Millenneum Copyright Act of 1998 that this edition published by Xulon is in violation of my copyright. I am the author and owner of the copyright and this book infringes upon my copyright.

To see an example of the correct listing of all my published books, please see https://www.bookbub.com/authors/linda....

I have tried to make the issues very clear. Please do let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Linda Street-Ely (a/k/a Linda Street), Goodreads and Amazon Author

Suzi | 8667 comments 1. Goodreads maintains records on published works, and does not remove the record of an out of print book.

***a. You can set the default edition, which will show up in searches following these instructions: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

***b. There are records of millions of books on Goodreads which do not appear on Amazon. Amazon is a retail sales company. Goodreads maintains records for readers.

2. The Illustrator's name was automatically uploaded with the rest of the book record from Amazon for the second edition. I've removed the illustrator from the 2nd edition, as it is not mentioned on that edition.

3. Tales of Texas did not include any of the contributors when it was automatically imported to Goodreads. I will add all of the contributors shortly.

4. You had added the book, but I put it under your author profile name, and updated the cover from Amazon.

5. As stated in item 1, Goodreads does not remove published books, even when they are unpublished and out of print. It is more like a library catalog. People like to shelve the edition of the book that they own. So no matter who owns the copyright, the books are still allowed to be on the site under the authors who have written them.

Also as mentioned, you can set the default edition from these instructions: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

please see these policy statements:
https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...

6. Goodreads Librarians are volunteers and cannot go against Goodreads policy. For any legal questions/issues, contact Goodreads support: https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

Although they are somewhat behind in responding recently, they are definitely responding, and will get to your requests.

Plus these are not the books themselves, but bibliographic records. Copyright has nothing to do with it. See also the listing in Worldcat: https://www.worldcat.org/title/when-w...

Linda Street-Ely (lindastreetely) | 21 comments Thank you, Suzi. Regarding the legal issue, I had tried several times and kept getting a server error message - timed out. It is now working.

Regarding updating the description, for the first edition of "When We Move to Heaven, (that was published by Xulon Press in 2009: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1..., ISBN 1607910373 (ISBN13: 9781607910374), I tried to add:

"This edition is out of print. The active edition is https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5..."

But it would not allow me to do this. Are you able to add this for me?

I appreciate your time and attention to my concerns.

Linda Street-Ely
