Kate S | 6164 comments Daniel Silva was one of the presenters at the National Book Festival in 2007. Silva began his writing career as a journalist. Read any book by an author who has earned a living as a journalist.

Please post any questions or comments about task 20.2 in this thread.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 12409 comments This list includes all authors with pre-approval. You may find others. Please post your finds in this thread before posting in the completed tasks thread.

Valerie Brown | 2495 comments Thanks for the list. I was just going to confirm Dickens here, but I could just check the list!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 12409 comments You all have done a good job sleuthing when we've had this task before. One of the very very nice things about scoring with the database is that I can go back and retrieve things like this.

Rosemary | 2986 comments Yay! I was just thinking we have had this one before... :)
Your brother's database is the most amazing thing.

And I think he would be pleased that it continues to be useful!

Joanna (walker) | 1454 comments How about Josh Kilmer-Purcell?

From Wikipedia:

He has written articles for NPR, Huffington Post, Publishers Weekly, AdWeek, OUT Magazine & others.

I'm not sure how much of his living comes from that work...he seems to have a lot of jobs...

message 19: by Denise (new)

Denise | 1554 comments Ruth Rendell

Would this be enough to qualify, or too marginal?

From BBC obituary:

"Rendell began her writing career as a reporter on an Essex newspaper.

However, she was forced to resign after filing a story about a local sports club dinner that she hadn't attended. Her report failed to mention that the after-dinner speaker had died half-way through the speech." (Oops!)

No big deal, this would be for combo points. I will be posting her books under the Prolific task.
