I read this book around 2010-2016, it’s about a girl who stopped speaking since childhood, she has a boy best friend who drops her to school and takes care of her etc. She has parents and I think a sister. In one scene a boy sitting next to her in class asked for her name and she just pointed at her notepad that had her name on it, and smiled at him. Her name is associated with a plant or a tree I think??
SPOILER:
I think she experienced sexual harassment as a kid by her dad’s friend? I think she was threatened or scared to speak up so she completely stopped talking (I think since the age of 7). At the end of the book she sees the man again and she gets scared so she rings her boy best friend and speaks for the first time, asking him for help
