I would just clarify that Akwaeke Emezi identifies as non-binary.

For me it was a bit uneven: There were aspects that I liked very much, others I felt could have been better, such as the balance of “page time” given various relationships and aspects of the main character’s life. See my review for more details (spoilers are marked). Still, especially considering it was their debut novel, I definitely wanted to read more of Akwaeke Emezi’s work and am looking forward to listening to the audiobook of their latest novel, The Death of Vivek Oji. =)

Thank you so much for correcting me!!! I had known that and I don’t know how it fell out of my head while rearranging titles on my list last night.

I highly recommend their latest work, The Death of Vivek Oji and if you like audiobooks at all, definitely check it out! The narrators do a fantastic job! =)

Thank you, Anetq! Sorry I didn’t see this last year! I had things come up and wasn’t online as much, but I certainly enjoyed participating in the Bingo challenge! =)
