This is the best thread to use.

Are all of the works on the Chris Humphreys profile yours?
https://www.goodreads.com/author/list...

The easiest way to manage these name changes, you have apparently already started with the merging of C.C. Humphreys into Chris C. Humphreys. You must have contacted Goodreads support to do this for you.

Since the Chris profile - without the initial - has multiple followers, the way to keep the integrity of that profile is also to contact Goodreads support and ask to combine that profile with the GR profile you are using now. "Chris C. Humphreys" encompasses all the names you have written under, and that will allow all your works to be under your current profile.

use this link: https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

I will combine your works, and update your series, but Librarians cannot edit Goodreads Author profiles..

Is this work yours? https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

all the others on that profile look like your titles.

please advise

Suzi | 8667 comments I can't tell if you want all your works on the same profile or not.

Do you want the C.C. Humphreys works to show under your Goodreads Author profile of Chris C. Humphrey?

message 5: by Suzi (new)

Suzi | 8667 comments I can make series for your works as appropriate, but you need to know:

1. A title is always listed with the original author as the primary author. It doesn't matter how many subsequent republications under different names, the original author's name is the primary.

2. The only way to circumvent that is for the name to be included within another Profile.

**a. for example: a book published under C.C. Humphreys could be listed under Chris C. Humphreys.
**b. for example: a book published under Chris Humphreys could be listed under Chris C. Humphreys.
**c. however, books published under Chris C. Humphreys will never be included under either C.C. Humphreys or Chris Humphreys.
**d. The primary/first author name will be listed first, and then the author name on the cover of a specific edition will be listed second.
**e. The ONLY way to have them all under your profile is to have them all under Chris C. Humphreys.

3. If you will tell me exactly what you want, and which books should go under which profile, I will make that happen to the best of my ability.

Thanks so much for all this Suzi.
The Creating Wealth book is not mine. Can you remove it?
I think you are right - it must be easiest to combine all the works as Chris C Humphreys. People should be able to find me that way, right?
Yes, please combine all works. Does that mean that The Hunt of the Unicorn reviews and ratings for the old edition will transfer to the new: Book One of the Tapestry Trilogy?
(Do you know if there is a way to transfer those reviews to the Kindle edition on Amazon? That would help me hugely!)
I will get in touch with Support to combine the profiles.
All best
Chris

Another thing - when I go to support, which issue do I put this under? Account or My Books or...

I would think either Account, or report issue, then it will if you are an author, so that will help.

I will start working on these for you, and Support will do the rest.

there is a backlog of requests, so I will do as much as I can in the meantime.

reviews on Amazon do not sync with Goodreads - but many reviews post the same review in both places.

Suzi, can I send you flowers? Thanks so much.
So I never publish as Chris C. Humphreys.
C.C. Humphreys is my historical fiction name. Chris Humphreys my fantasy name.
Are you suggesting they both be grouped under Chris C Humphreys? That could be good. You say the primary name will always be the original author anyway so that could work.
So, Under C.C. Humphreys the books are:
The French Executioner Series:
- The French Executioner
- Blood Ties (in US The Curse of Anne Boleyn)
The Jack Absolute Series:
- Jack Absolute
- The Blooding of Jack Absolute
- Absolute Honour (Honor in US)
- The Birth of Jack Absolute
Vlad, The Last Confession
A Place Called Armageddon
Shakespeare's Rebel
Plague
Fire
Chasing the Wind
The Hunt of the Unicorn
The Hunt of the Dragon
(These last two I am republishing as Chris Humphreys)
As Chris Humphreys:
The Runestone Saga:
- The Fetch (Published on Kindle as The Secrets in the Blood)
- Vendetta
- Possession
The Tapestry Trilogy
- The Hunt of the Unicorn
- The Hunt of the Dragon (Coming soon)
- The Hunt of the Shapeshifter (Coming soon)
(These last two I have covers etc. for I just haven't published yet for strategic purposes. Though I am about as good with strategy as I am with Goodreads!)
The Immortals' Blood Trilogy
- Smoke in the Glass (out now)
- The Coming of the Dark (September 2020)
- The Wars of Gods and Men (2021)

Suzi, whatever you think the best way to handle this is, I go with your opinion. For what it is worth, my goal is for people to think of me as one writer, different genres... but read then all anyway.
Flowers? Truly?

I'll get them together in appropriate series.
The author name will Be Chris C. Humphreys so that all will go under your profile.

When you publish under any combination of that name, a Goodreads librarian can move it to your profile name..

I will sort this out, so give me some time on it.

I think primarily you want to make sure that the followers of your other profiles get transferred to your real profile, and that's something I cannot do. But I will make it as easy as possible for the Goodreads staff to move it properly for you.

Hello!
I heard from R in support who tells me that Chris Humphreys is unclaimed and she can merge it with my claimed profile. What I realized was that I made a big error when I said that Chris C. Humphreys wrote the books - no book has been published under that name. This is what I wrote her - and thanks again for your help.

Hello and thanks for the help.
I am already published under this name Chris Humphreys - as it says on the page you sent with my new novel Smoke in the Glass, first of a series. And several books that are listed at my ‘other’ profile: Chris C. Humphreys - which, oddly I have never published under. I write as Chris Humphreys (fantasy) and C.C. Humphreys (Historical fiction).
I think this is all my fault and I have confused things greatly! Sorry. Suzi in the forums is helping me a lot and wished to be kept informed when I heard back from you.
I am trying to organize my writing life so that people know I am the same author, just with a different name for different genres. Can you suggest the best way for that to happen? I looked at Conn Iggulden who writes historical as that, and fantasy as C F Iggulden, with link to each on the other page: ‘Also publishes under author name Conn Iggulden' and vice versa. Would that be the way to go? Two separate pages, linked.
We just have to get rid of this Chris C. Humphreys dude who has written nothing!
I am starting to reissue some backlist, with additional material and new covers beginning with The Hunt of the Unicorn:
https://www.amazon.com/Hunt-Unicorn-T...
Written as Chris Humphreys. I know I can’t remove the old traditionally published edition as readers may still be reading it. But can I add this one?
I also need to update all data - that photo is 20 years old, plus the website is wrong. Can I do that?
Hope you can help with all this. And once again I apologize for the trouble.
Be well,
Chris

Emily | 14742 comments Support will just need to put both your names on each book if that is what you prefer, instead of grouping them all under one name. It may take time for them to do that, due to the backlog (just info).

The only way to have all your works under the same profile is to use Chris C. Humphreys.

If you want to maintain more than one profile, keep in mind that the original author name will be the primary name on each work.

Many authors use initials randomly so this is a common issue.

If you want 2 separate profiles, it is certainly do-able, but remember about the original author.

message 21: by Suzi (new)

Suzi | 8667 comments The primary name on your works can be Chris C. and each title will have the name you used on the cover, but you will be able to manage them all under one primary profile.

C.C. Humphreys | 17 comments Suzi wrote: "The primary name on your works can be Chris C. and each title will have the name you used on the cover, but you will be able to manage them all under one primary profile."

Oh dear. I have too many names.
I did write Hunt of the Unicorn and Hunt of the Dragon as C C Humphreys. I am reissuing as Chris Humphreys, trying to distinguish my fantasy self from my historical fiction self. I really never want Chris C Humphreys which I think is confusing everyone, especially me!
I think what I suggested to Support is probably the best way to go - two separate but linked profiles: Chris Humphreys and C.C. Humphreys. But for the two titles above, can they be listed under both - old edition under CC and new ones under Chris?
Thanks again for help and patience.

The original author name will be on all editions, and the books with a different author on the cover will have that author as the secondary author.

You can put hyperlinks in your author bios, as are there now to link them.
