Adult woman loses husband and goes back to her old small town with her daughter

spoilers ahead: she falls for her neighbor who is also a widow and they have sex imagining their late spouses. i also think an old friend of the woman late husband shoots his shot at her and then messes with her car to try and kill her after she says no to him??? plus the neighbor works wih an old man at some kind of store HELP i think i read it about 2 years ago

What is the woman's job? How old is her daughter? How did her husband die?

i would say adult novel? her old friend from town finds her a job as a waitress, i think. the daughter is somewhere around 5-10. i dont remember how her husband died tho :(
