Andres Rodriguez (aroddamonster) | 590 comments This group is going to be heavily centered on a romance that involves a mysterious, adventurous, or spiritual story line. It usually revolves around a love conflict between two individuals that ends in a "Happy Ending." Chilvary and emotion are usually strong elements here.

Sangeeta Mohanty Hi Andres, can we review each other's writings as we progress?
I am planning to write an unconventional romance.

Andres Rodriguez (aroddamonster) | 590 comments Absolutely. When you post your chapter there is a sharable link button, copy and paste the URL here and ask for others help in reviewing your work.

Missy Amore (missy_amore) Hi Romance Writers! I'm Missy. Sorry for joining, dropping and joining again. Not sure you even noticed that. I was logged in with the wrong profile. Anyway, I have posted through week 20 on Coursera, but I have actually finished my romance novel. I ignored the directions and wrote 65K words and 30 chapters. Happy to meet other romance writers here. In my journey, by joining Slack and such, I only met two other romance writers.

Liavali | 237 comments I am not a romance writer but am happy to exchange reviews on large amounts of chapters.

I try to be thorough on my feedback, good points, bad points, questions, examples, issues I don't understand etc.

Andres Rodriguez (aroddamonster) | 590 comments Hi Missy!

So now that your completed with the course what's your next step? Have you already started viewing KDP, LULU or Ingramspark? Are you inviting proof reads or cover artists? This is great news, some of the members will be in your shoes in a few months.

Lisa F. I am writing a romance novel. I need assistance with my table read of act one, chapters 1-7. Due to covid-19 restrictions I am doing this more of an individual reading not a group gathering. Can anyone read each chapter (entire first act) and provide feedback on each chapter? Do the chapters flow nicely from one chapter to another? Are the characters acting believable? Is there anything overemphasized or under-emphasized? Is there anything out of place? If you have any suggestions for improvements, please let me know. The next few chapters will show the tension and obstacles in their relationship that will challenge how strong their love really is. Here are the links to my original chapter postings to be reviewed:

Andres Rodriguez (aroddamonster) | 590 comments Absolutely. I'm going over Livali's 1st act right now. As soon as I'm done I'll go over yours. Possibly Friday or Monday I'll start if that's okay.

Ana Rmz I have read your chapter 1, 4 and 5 and posted reviews, hope you found them helpful!

message 11: by Lisa (new)

Lisa F. Thanks Ana for the feedback. I did find some of your suggestions very helpful and I will apply some of them. You reviewed three random non-consecutive chapters which is different than how the teacher described what a table read was in week ten. Is there any reason you chose to review it this way? Are there different ways to do a table read? Can the consistently of the story and flow of details and the characterization development be seen if reviewing non-consecutive chapters? Though you did not read chapter two, it introduced Alexandria's strong religious views which was demonstrated in other chapter but more subtle. Her views will be shown more as the story develops in act two which I still have to write.

Hey, I'm glad you are taking your writing seriously and applying our feedback, it is super important! also, I really care about the stories of everyone in the group but I have a lot of things to do in the real world, like school and I also I'm kind of a housewife, so I select some chapters to read at random, but I promise I will read your whole novel when I got the time, please keep writing :)

Lisa F. That is fine Ana whenever you can it's no rush...I still have many more chapters to write before this class is over. I too am super busy too. In addition to taking this writing class, I also work full-time and part-time (2 jobs) and have family and home responsibilities to do each day. This is one of the reasons I try to stay up late so I can write. As you know this class is very time consuming between writing a chapter a week and reviewing other people's chapters. Do not worry, I will keep writing until I complete this novel.

Lisa F. My chapter 8 is online. Does anyone here have time to review it and provide feedback? It's the first chapter in act 2.
