Not one of our group reads, but Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel was a wonderful book. If you're interested in dystopian stories, I would recommend this one.
It moves back and forth in time giving us glimpses of interconnectedness and memory and grief and hope and is woven together very effectively.

Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital was one of the best books I read in 2014. It tells the story of Memorial Hospital in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

That sounds pretty interesting, and I have little non-fiction on my plate right now, so I think I'll check it out.
It sounds similar a movie called 'Hours' in which a man's wife gives birth during Katrina and the baby is on a ventilator. I haven't watched the movie, but probably will at some point because Paul Walker is in it.

Yeah, it's not in there a whole lot but everything about the book was sad to me. I couldn't put it down because I just wanted to know what was next! I don't even know what I would have done if I was in that situation! I hope you like it! I just heard about an HBO show called Treme which is about New Orleans after the hurricane. It's done by the same guy who did The Wire. My friend said it's really good, couple years old now.
