YA novel, possibly 90s, about a boy who is taught to meditate every morning, then what happens when he doesn't have time to do it and how his day is harder

Read in the 90s. A boy is taught by someone to meditate each morning and he does this. Then one day (several days?) he's busy and decides he doesn't have time to meditate, and then his day is harder, things go wrong and he doesn't cope as well as usual with it. Then I think he learns the lesson to always make time for meditation. I think the gist of the book is to teach YAs the point of meditation, but told as a story.
