Laura:Great list! What did you think of "The Secret History" and "Everything is Illuminated"? Wasn't the latter one made into a movie? Have you seen it?
Which of the Phillip Pullman books are in the three from his dark matter series...? Any of them? Did you like those? I read the first one and like it very much but haven't researched the other two.
And did you enjoy "The Book Thief"?
All these are currently on my "to read list".

The Secret History- I really enjoyed it, but was a bit long and drawn outEverything is illuminated- Fascinating, unusual, funny and touching... yes it is a movie but I've only seen the trailer =P!
Phillip Pullman- I've read all three of his dark materials now, my particular favourite was The Subtle Knife. The third one I loved up until the ending, which I found very dissapointing and anti-climatical.
The Book Thief- I absolutely loved this! Beautiful...I would definitely read this one first!
Looking for Alaska- Lots of people were raving about this, it was quite enjoyable but personally found that didn't leave much of an impression on me.
