Each month we will give you a list of 50 themed words to find in your books.

*There is no limit to how many words you can get per book.
*For each word please post a link to the book, the author, the date you finished it, plus the page number/location and a partial sentence where you found the word.
*Any reasonable forms are accepted.

EXAMPLE -
Apple - A Touch of Ice - L.J. Charles (1/10/16)
...weakness for apple pie, heavy... (loc. 245)

Any genre/format is fine.
Re-reads are OK.
No page minimum.
To count a book towards the challenge you must read the majority of it after the start date of the challenge.
Please post a partial list of the challenge when you sign up.

At the end of the month please re-post your whole challenge as a new message so that we can award your Hall of Fame badge!

(Even if you don't hit the level you were aiming for, you can still claim a badge for the words you did get.)

The Bloody British A Well-Meaning Guide to an Awkward Nation by Paul Hawkins (6/30/20)

43. Rangers - However, even the most wise and mild-mannered of us in Britain are willing to make a teeny, tiny exception for American stereotypes because, deep down, we still believe that Americans are all still baaaasically British anyway, except we sent them off a few hundred years ago with a Power Rangers lunchbox, passed on the baton (or truncheon) of world policeman from us to them, and now watch like hippy parents from afar as they blunder through the world like a fat kid on jelly. (loc 2991)
44. Recreation - As a rule of thumb, all forms of London-based recreation should be accompanied by a dabble of accidental binge-drinking and cost whatever amount of money is the minimum amount of money a banker would pay to do the same activity regardless of how good it is. (loc 1220)
50. Wyoming - I wanted to be pragmatic and reasonable and graciously accepting of other people’s motivations to Leave, but I simultaneously felt very much like a man living in California being told that the United States was now closed to me because Wyoming said so. (loc 164)

Kissing Frogs by Rich Amooi (6/3/20)

1. Adventure - "Where's your sense for adventure?" asked Billy. (p 15)
2. Animals - "Women don't even pay attention to me, but household pets and barnyard animals want to get freaky with me." (p 97)
5. Birds - She slid open the window and could hear the birds singing this morning. (p 162)
15. Direction - He pointed in the direction of Calvin and his mother. (p 31)
20. Fire - "But for the moment, my ass is on fire." (p 90)
21. Fishing - "Hand on," said Ian, fishing for the keys in his pocket. (p 135)
28. Hike - "Take a hike." (p 166)
36. Nature - "Wearing a one-piece with a body like yours would be like slapping Mother Nature in the face." (p 55)
38. Outdoors/Outside - But there was an odd noise coming from the outside, close by. (p 4)
39. Park - He passed the basketball courts in Campbell Park and entered the trail, walking toward the percolation ponds. (p 81)
40. Peaceful - "I'd hate to disturb her though - she looks so peaceful." (p 58)
45. Resort - "You certainly should be able to get your... butt... the way you want it, without having to resort to surgery." (p 91)
39. Salsa (May) - So much that she pressed her hand to her stomach as the butterflies started salsa dancing. (p 63)

Night at the Vulcan (Roderick Alleyn #16) by Ngaio Marsh (6/10/20)

3. Attraction - After a short introductory passage the act opened with a long scene between Helena Hamilton and Adam Poole in which their attraction to each other was introcuced and established, and her instinctive struggle against her environment made clear and developed. (p 80)
9. Climb - Martyn saw Poole take the hands that were extended to him and she turned her head away not liking, with the voluminous dress in her arms, to climb down from her station on the chair. (p 119)
11. Danger - "Believe me," he said, "you are in no danger of discomfort from the smallest whisper of scandal." (p 100)
13. Discover - "I was appalled to discover in myself no stronger emotion than this." (p 295)
16. Endure/Endurance - "Wash me in steepdown gulfs of liquid fire ere I again endure the loathy torment of a dress-rehearsal." (p 124)
19. Falls - "By his own wish he returns to his original habitat, and there he is confronted by his heredity, in the person of his great uncle, who is played by J. G. Darcey, his brilliant unstable cousin, who is played by Clark Bennington, this cousin's wife, who is Helena, and with whom he falls in love, and their daughter who is freakishly like him, but vicious and who represents therefor his inescapable heredity." (p 70)
23. Gear - They were packing up their gear. (p 241)
27. Guide - "Follow in single file and don't talk to the guide." (p 21)
34. Landscape - The entire set changed its aspect, seemed to dissolve, turned threadbare, a skeleton, a wraith, while beyond it a wide stylized landscape was flooded with light and became as Poole spoke the tag, the background upon which the curtain fell. (p 166)
35. Lodging - He would think she had found a lodging somewhere and left the theatre. (p 86)
49. Wonders - "But you know you love performing your little wonders." (p 64)

Born a Crime Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah (6/16/20)

12. Deer - "My gran called me "Springbok," after the second-fastest land mammal on earth, the deer that the cheetah hunts. (p 136)
33. Jagged - Jagged Edge was huge. (p 271)
48. Wolves - But the more we went to church and the longer I sat in those pews the more I learned about how Christianity works: If you're Native American and you pray to the wolves, you're a savage. (p 13)
9. Cantina (May) - It's like the cantina scene from Star Wars, where the band's playing music and Han Solo's in the corner and all of the bad guys and bounty hunters from all over the universe are hanging out - a wretched hive of scum and villainy, only there's no music and no Han Solo. (p 353)

Conventionally Yours (True Colors, #1) by Annabeth Albert (6/21/20)

26. GPS - "Can you call up GPS on your phone?" (p 99)
46. Rivers +8. Canyons + 10. Colorado - Glenwood Springs apparently had a canyon and a pretty view of where the Colorado and Roaring Fork Rivers met, but I'd been more focused on fast kisses on a bench overlooking the meeting of two bridges. (p 360)
25. Jelly bean (March) - It was a hundred-dollar card, the sort of comeback that pro players trotted out like jelly beans, and so far above my current gaming budget it might as well have been gold-plated. (p 14)
7. Cabins - "And I used one of those last-minute-deal sites to nab a teeny cabin at one of those motel places that have a lot of seperate cabins, all in a row." (p 363)
17. Eruption - Something about the two of us was like mixing Diet Coke and Mentos - guaranteed instant eruption. (p 44)
32. Itinerary - "I took the liberty of printing maps as a backup as well as copies of our ininerary and scheduled stops," Alden spoke up before Jasper could answer. (p 99)
43. Teamwork (May) - "Great teamwork, no one injured, and al our decks safe and sound." (p 348)
25. Oval (February) - Out back, there were go-karts and a small oval track. (p 250)

The Book That Made Me by Judith Ridge (6/25/20)

18. Excursion - Within a year or two of reading The Power of One, I watched the play Funerals and Circuses by Roger Bennett when I was on a school excursion in Adelaide. (p 143)
42. Photography - She may have another interest - photography or art or dancing - but it's never BMX, so I don't even get that right. (p 127)
38. Resourceful (May) - Or maybe it was just the power of Odysseus's personality - cunning and brave, resourceful and adaptable, quick on his feet, imaginative, a bit lippy, good at keeping secrets (too good sometimes), loving, and very loyal. (p 186)
41. Pear (March) - That was the year my mother gave me a pear for little lunch every day. (p 258)
48. Watermelon (March) - The most well-developed girl in Grade Six (aka "Watermelons") wears an anklet on her right foot, which means she's done "it". (p 130)

(loc 164)
