Memorial Day reminded me of all those who have died serving their country. And I started thinking about the books I've read about soldiers, battles, etc. What's the best book you've ever read about soldiers/veterans/battle/war? What did you find the most compelling or moving? What seemed the most realistic?

Cindy (cmoreno) I read Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand and found it to be intense and educational. I found it to be interesting how Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner, survived because he believed and had faith and this allowed him to survive the tragedies that he endured. I had also read a book on Grit by Angela Duckworth around that time and it reminded me of Zamperini and his determination to live.
