Great! I’ll join in — it’s pretty short and I wasn’t really interested in the typical U.S. Western (for the Classics Bingo Challenge). =)

Clara (clarabellecow) | 66 comments I'm excited to see a buddy read for this and will join in as well. I hadn't thought of using it for a western in my bingo challenge, many thanks for the idea!

Brina And it’s short! Best part lol. Welcome Kaila :)

Clara (clarabellecow) | 66 comments I finished this a few days ago. I originally wanted to read it in Spanish, but my Spanish is not up to par so I read the translation posted in this thread.

I just kept saying "wow" as I read. There was so much suffering on so many levels but also so much determined human spirit. It was horrifying and uplifting at the same time.

Did anyone else end up reading it?

message 6: by Cynda (new)

Cynda | 2639 comments Oh good Kaila.

I hope to read some in Spanish in August. I am to my gills in books right now. I will post here when I do read.

Jesus | 173 comments I didn't know there was a buddy read for this book. I have wanted to read it for so long... I will probably read it next week in Spanish. I will post when I finish it

message 8: by Petrichor (new)

Petrichor | 300 comments I would like to apologise.
I haven't had much time for reading and updating goodreads in the last 2 months or so. I haven't read El Gaucho Martin Fierro yet, although I was the one to suggest the buddy read. :-(

I'm sorry.

Going through some weird time right now, as probably many of us do.

Brina You are not alone. I haven’t read it either opting for 21st century escapist fiction. It’s all I can handle now.

message 10: by Cynda (last edited Jul 14, 2020 10:34AM) (new)

Cynda | 2639 comments No not alone. I am just now a little more focused in body and spirit which is a relief. But now I have so many committments to catch up on by December 31st. Instead of reading 100 pages most days, I am striving for 150 every single day. I will do this for just as long as I can. . . . Petrichor just do what you can as ypu can. Take Care.

Clara (clarabellecow) | 66 comments It took me a couple of months to read it because I kept putting to down to read mind candy fiction. I wouldn't stress. This thread will be here when you do read it.
