Nikki | 661 comments I thought this was great fun. It stuck closely to the standard romantic comedy formula: an entertaining light read with likeable main characters, implausible but fun plot developments, and a satisfying ending.

I did occasionally wonder whether it was ok to be using the quirks of a character on the autistic spectrum for comedy value. On reflection, I’m deciding that in this case the answer is yes – in part because the category of "geeks and nerds" that the author describes as the real-life inspiration for the central character would include me, most of my family – and I’m guessing probably Simsion himself. (He did also write Data Modeling Essentials, after all…) The warmth with which Don’s character was written, the book’s positive message about neurodiversity, and the uplifting way that Don and Rosie’s story unfolded all made this a book that I felt good about reading.
