Ambitious project! A good book about Louisa Adams (wife of John Quincy) is Louisa: The Extraordinary Life of Mrs. Adams. There are some nonfiction and fiction books that include the first few first ladies. For Jefferson, you could choose his daughter Patsy or Sally Hemings instead of his wife, who died.

Thank you for the recommendation! I did read America's First Daughter but hadn't thought about it. I guess technically, she was Jefferson's First Lady when he was in office.
