What is an Entrepreneur? Obviously and entrepreneur is a person who practices entrepreneurship. But the answer is not that simple. First, you need to identify what the current, or most accepted, definition of entrepreneurship is. Entrepreneurship has traditionally been defined as the process of designing, launching, and running a new business, or one that organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise. This definition, in my opinion, does not truly portray what entrepreneurship is nor what true entrepreneurs endure on their paths to success. It also does not distinguish between a true entrepreneur versus just being a business owner nor does it expose the subtle and not so subtle differences between them.

True entrepreneurship goes far beyond that traditional definition and instead consists of seven key qualities that are integral to successful entrepreneurship. Your thoughts?

Credentials create credibility, credibility demands respect and respect affords opportunities. Build your brand around credentials.

Entrepreneurship is a way of life and if u understand that there will be ups and downs and take steps to mitigate the downs, you will be stronger for it. You learn more from your downs, than you do form your ups.

If you have an original idea and do not act on it, it dies with you and gets placed back into the subconscious. It is your duty, when you have an original thought, to act and practice on it or risk losing a piece of your individuality forever.

Most of us have lost the true art of thinking. We, too often, allow our minds to be consumed and cluttered by mundane thoughts. We have to learn to listen for and tap into the collective subconscious and re-learn how to think. Entrepreneurs think to come up with ideas and to solve problems. To come up with ideas you must clear your mind, to solve problems you must focus your mind.

What is the entrepreneurial mind set? The entrepreneurial mind set is about being resilient, chasing and never giving up on your dreams or yourself. It’s about taking risks and reaching out beyond apparent limitations. It’s about investing and making sacrifices to reach your goals. It’s about constantly learning and bettering oneself and becoming the best at what you do. It’s about associating with like-minded individuals. It’s finding ways around problems. It’s about building and nurturing relationships and building and nurturing a brand. It’s about not doing something just for the money and giving back to the community.

Douglass Gaking | 6 comments Entrepreneurship is taking risks by investing capital in innovations based on the anticipation of future demand and profit.

Hayek (1937) writes that "most individual acts of investment must be regarded, therefore, as mere links in a chain which has to be completed if its parts are to serve the function for which they were intended, even though the chain consists of separate and successive acts of different entrepreneurs."

Entrepreneurs must understand and anticipate the behavior of other people and businesses and be willing to risk their own capital to profit from it.
