I started the series some time ago and never really finished it. So it is on my TBR but I want to get closer to April and see how I am doing with the reading load (mostly if life allows for more reading time).I think it is likely I will be in. I loved what I read and I always wanted to complete the series!
LoL - Had an author comment on an old book status update. It probably came up because I wrote a new one about re-reading the book. That odd mix of:
- Woah, author wrote on my status update!
- Uh, did he even read my review because I was one of the 3 star readers. lol
Doesn't even matter if the author isn't a fav, it's both cool and weird. Heck, it's happened several times and it's still cool when it happens. lol

Yeah, that's always neat :)
My library has a bunch of Drew Hayes books in audio & ebook formats. You should check & see if your library have them too.- Superpowereds (Superhero Academy)
- NPC's (LitRPG/DnD Fantasy)
- Fred the Vampire Accountant
- Corpies (Standalone in Superpowereds World)
- Forging Hephaestus
I'm planning on reading Corpies & Forging Hephaestus later this year. =)
Phew! Hopefully, this side project will only take a week to do. *crossed fingers* I hope. HahahahErgonomic Setup:
- 1 Dell Inspiron All-in-One, 1 Asus Laptop, 1 Logitech ERGO K860 Keyboard (Dell USB, Asus Bluetooth), two mouse, 1 cell phone, 2 tablets = work/etc area.
- Cobbled a extended area to hold random stuff I need by my table-desk.
- Happy to sit, bounce, fidget on my yoga ball
1/4 - Configuring Dell, troubleshooting, updating, adjusting features
1/5-6 - Lots of experimenting. Worked out dual setup of Dell & Asus.
1/7 - Decided to fully test all backup drives before I start doing a full backup. This is going to take forever. Haha
Using the maximized screen spaces & 2 systems to work on photos & make sure they are backed up well & organized. This will take a few days. Which is shorter than if I was trying to edit, organize & figure out print choices. I've re-discovered a love for print photos. Digital is handy but there's something really nice about printing out photos & having an album to browse.
I turned an older tablet into media device for playing music, audio, ebooks or turned into digital photo frame to show shots. It took a few hours to find an app that had good slideshow. That's actually a function in all picture gallery apps but the actual execution is different. While I like the app I got & paid for, I did not like that I can't use the paid for app on other devices. *shrug*
It's actually cheaper to buy an old laptop with a good screen & use window gallery/photo program to show off digital photos. The cost for a digital frame is really high considering the sub=par parts & memory + functions that you pay. It's like $400+ for a large screen digital frame. It's cheaper to buy a good tablet or laptop, large monitor & set it up to be a media center.
If you have a net capable TV/etc, you can easily link to tv from computer & have a slideshow when you aren't using the tv for shows/movies.
Lots of ideas. I love electronics! Even if it's a bit frustrating at times. lol

Forging Hephaestus is the only one I haven't read yet... unless I missed a release
EDIT: Looks like all Hayes released in 2020 was another contribution to Shingles series (multi-author Adult Goosebumps series)... and the sequel to Forging Hephaestus...
Perfect excuse to get to this... even if it sounds vaguely similar to Hench... the books are tome length tho... no wonder Hayes didn't release much else...
Hayes has #2 listed as newest pre-order on his audiobook page of his website, but it's not listed on Amazon/Audible yet... might want to wait until I/we have an idea when book 2 audio is coming out, before starting book 1...

EDIT EDIT (just gonna start a new post)...
Found audiobook release date on another author page... Mar 30, 2021
So... how does Forging Hephaestus BR in early March sound?

Good luck... I agree most companies are basically grifting consumers for convenience when it comes to things like these digital picture frames...
Speaking of, I read this reddit story a few weeks ago and shared it with coworkers, where a guy found out this childhood photo on the wall wasn't even real, it was just the stock photo that came in the frame... like the parents bought a frame with a picture similar to their kids and hung it on the wall... funny/sad...

Yah! I'm down for that BR.
How about March 15th for Hephaestus & April 7th for the sequel? We should post in BR Invite. I'm sure others will be interested.
Re Photo Story: Woah, that's weird & totally a great setup for a story!

Damn. Y'all gonna kill me with all these BRs. But.....I'm in.
I've had my eye on Forging Hephaestus for a while so will likely join in. I was planning to do audio.

The story seems interesting enough and I might join as well but I want to get closer to end of March to fully commit!
My biggest problem, especially in January, is turning every interesting book into a BR... leaves me scrounging for things to read...
Timelord Iain wrote: "My biggest problem, especially in January, is turning every interesting book into a BR... leaves me scrounging for things to read..."It is actually impressive you get these organized - I usually do not do it. And I should be more mindful of the group!

Re: computer stuff: I bought new PC parts a year ago now, and never assembled, since I stopped playing the one game that needs a new PC... then I waited so long I no longer wanted to use the SSD I plugged into old PC...
Now, finally, I bought a new SSD, this time an NVMe M.2 one, that looks like a RAM stick, and can run 5-7x faster than SATA style SSDs that look like smaller HDDs...
So hopefully assemble new PC soon, finally...

Audible is having a Daily Deal Throwback Sale. It's $6 per instead of whatever they were for as Daily Deal. Most of the DD's are usually $3-5. I think I may get a few of these or wait for the 2-for-1 credit sale. I guess Audible is going to have a sale once a month?
I guess I need to check my emails. It's rather annoying you can't just see the deals on the landing page of Audible any more. Used to get a banner when a sale was on.
I had to bookmark http://www.audible.com/DailyDeal a long time ago, because they stopped including that on the daily banner, as well...
Too bad there isn't a similar URL you can bookmark to check for Sales...

And speaking of audio books. I have 2 hours left on my current one. I think it's Joe Ledger 4 next :D
Narilka wrote: "Well that's odd. I can see the daily deal on my homepage if I scroll down a little."

I picked up Forging Hephaestus on that sale. Looking a few others but might wait a bit. I just got The Thief audio from my Libby App so ready to go for that BR whenever it starts.
Audible Daily Deals - Yeah, it shows on the front page but you have to scroll down a bit to get to it. It's like they want you to "look" at all the other things you can buy (not on sale) before you get to the DD.I get the Daily Deal email. That's how I check it.
Narilka - Yay Joe!
Brian, the Thief BR starts on the 15th but you can start 7 days early.
I got Forging Hephaestus during one of the 2-for-1 credit sales last year.
Brian wrote: "I picked up Forging Hephaestus on that sale. Looking a few others but might wait a bit. My goal this year is to make a dent in all the paperbacks I have on the shelf.
@Brian I hear you there! I'm also trying to reduce my TBR this year. We'll see if either of us is successful :)
My physical books are kind of buried right now. Lots of reorganizing/etc happening at my place. So it's mostly audiobook, library loans & ebooks. Well, it's been that for a while because it was more convenient. Crown of Feathers was in the Audible Sale and my library has the books. Thus far, there are two out, I borrowed #1, and I'm in line to borrow #2. I like the idea of mythical beast riders. =)
Where's Choko? She's been MIA. Hope she's ok.
Narilka wrote: "@Brian I hear you there! I'm also trying to reduce my TBR this year. We'll see if either of us is successful :)"Me too! She's been gone for a bit
I've been thinking the same thing... Choko gets busy IRL and disappears for weeks/months... but when she's here, she's a reading machine...
@Brian: me and Soo read A Litter of Bones this past week... we're kinda chomping at the bit for you and/or Tammie to "catch up", since we learned book 2 involves Loch Ness :D

Oh damn! Sorry I spaced that one. I will download it tonight and start.
Brian, A Litter of Bones was pretty good! Nice mix of crime drama with splashes of modern (Hutchison style) humor.
Timelord Iain wrote: "I've been thinking the same thing... Choko gets busy IRL and disappears for weeks/months... but when she's here, she's a reading machine..."I too hope Choko is doing well. Miss her around here.
I started Joe Ledger 4 today. I think I'm ready for a good thriller. I know I'm in good hands with Joe :)
Orlando People - There's only audio for this story but if it comes up on a sale, get it! =)I've read all the books by the author and enjoy them a lot. He writes great, off-the-beaten path superhero stories. There's always humor and down to earth characters.
It's a bit of a mystery, FBI case & minor superhero. Gretch is more like a blip on the power scale. Like she pings it?
Another author to watch out for... I've heard of Andrea Vernon before... think I confused it was several other series like Constance Verity...
Alexander Kane is great. I wrote a review for Andrea Vernon on GR & Audible. The review was chosen as one of the "best of reader reviews" and the author DM'ed me to let me know. lol Andrea Vernon is one of my favs. I was really happy when Kane wrote a sequel for it.
Ya'll know how Grady Hendrix doesn't really tickle my funny bone? Kane uses present day pop culture & makes it funny. I think presentation may be the difference? In Hendrix work, I feel like the hahas are more about laughing at vs laughing with. Situational comedy relies a lot on delivery & Hendrix is a miss for me. Kane tends to write characters that I end up liking a lot or new slants on old plot themes that are fun.
I like A. Lee Martinez but the stories can get a bit too depressing. Or maybe that's the narrator influence?
