Does anyone else want this to be a movie?

Abby I LOVED this book so much and I would love love to see it be a movie, it was just have to be PERFECT. Your thoughts?

Mrsbooks I'd love to see it on film. But I think it would be harder to make us experience Stockholm syndrome along with Gemma through film. The novel literally had us sucked in it with the character and I loved that.

YES

Zineb Oh God! Yes please. That would be a dream come true. AND IF THERE EVER HAPPENS TO BE A MOVIE THEN I HOPE WE GET TO KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN THE COURT.

Sorrel Hmm... I'm not so sure. I loved this book so much, but seeing the way that movie producers and directors are handling many of the YA books around today, I just don't think it would be done well. I don't think that the story, the delicate progression of it and, like Mrsbooks said, the stockholm syndrome that we were sort of drawn into, would be recreated in the movie. If it was done well, it could be beautiful, but if it wasn't... it could just be so awful

Julie O'brien This is one of my FAVORITE books! My first reaction would be - yes - I would love to see it as a movie. But when I really think about it, I agree, movies tend to ruin the book. And there is no way that a movie can capture the emotions felt by Gemma.

Lena Heng YES. YEEEESSSSSSSSSS

Viktorija The movie actually already in the making (: The author tweeted about it a few times (including already finishing a 2nd draft of the script) and, according to her FB page, Ryan Kwanten is set to play Ty. I do agree with Makenna and I think it will be difficult to capture everything in the movie, but only time will tell!

Paulina Salazar Yes! I would like to see how they capture Gemma's Stockholm Syndrome.

Really???? I just googled him and he looks too old to be Ty. Isn't Ty supposed to be in his twenties? Ryan Kwanten is thirty-eight. Just seems a bit too old imo.

I think with the right director and the right writers, it'd make a pretty good movie, but I can't see mainstream audiences liking it that much. A movie about Stockholm syndrome is definitely a little strange. But it'd be cool to see it happen. I just wouldn't want it to be any different than the book. The hardest part, I think, would be capturing Gemma's emotions through the whole thing. But the whole thing is written in the form of a letter, so I imagine there'd be narration through the whole thing.

E I think it would be a difficult one to turn into film, because it would be hard to show Gemma's emotions and feelings towards Ty. They would probably have to have Gemma narrating it.
I wonder if they would show the court scene, though, because, although the ending works really well in the book, I think ending as the book does would be really anticlimatic on screen.
And then, how would they show the bits where Ty is kinda watching Gemma grow up without it coming across really creepy?

Is the author writing the script herself?

Yes. She doesn't tweet that much so you can scroll through her messages from last year and find some of the tweets about it. Or just visit her Facebook page (: She probably is working on it with a professional, but it's getting done. I'm kind of nervous to be honest.

Apparently he's been cast to play Ty (: Lucy even mentioned in an interview that she imagined Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Kwanten or Heath Ledger (if he were still alive) as her Ty's (: And Gemma was described as "a little bit like a mixture between the actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Kristen Stewart."

None of these create a picture anything like the ones I had of Gemma and Ty in my head!
