I would probably say 1984 by George Orwell, It wasn't my favourite but the message of the book is timeless, and has stuck with me since reading it earlier this year.

definitely the Harry Potter Series because no, they are not simply about witches and wizards; they are SO much deeper and profound and bring up topics like racism and loss and hurting and what true love it and dealing with evil.

and also, Beautiful Boy by David Sheff- never have I cried so much in a book.

okay, last one lol, but ALSO the books Dear Alice by Anonymous, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Joanne Greenberg, and It Happened to Nancy by Beatrice Sparks. Such amazing novels on mental health and drug abuse in teens.

In no particular order:
.Harry Potter, because it is so iconic. although it’s a middle grade fantasy series, all ages can find something to love and relate to in this magical world. the writing is so good and it is definitely a page turner. it tackles so many issues within its pages as well
.All The Bright Places is such a good representation of depression and mental illness that everyone needs to read. violet and finch are so much fun to read about-they made me laugh, cry, and smile. the romance in this book is an added touch that I loved.
.SHADOWHUNTERS!!!
.The Hate U Give has a WONDERFUL family dynamic and is written in such an engrossing way, not sugarcoating anything in its depictions of racism, gangs, and police brutality

All the Bright Places is one of my FAVORITES!!! holy moly. love that book. i cried so much. did you watch the netflix movie adaptation of it? People told me not to watch it, but if you've seen it, I wanted to get your take on it too!

I also read and liked that book! (even though it was for a class) On a similar note, I would want everyone to read A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. It is a dystopian with a very blunt and honest commentary of inequality.

One of the most hard hitting themes that I still think of to this day: Is it better to be free or to be happy? Because in this world they are exclusive of each other.

Nothing by Janne Teller. Very unique, very thought-provoking. Also, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. That book will haunt you for years, but in a good way.

I wouldn’t say this is out of cultural necessity more than purely my own opinion but...

A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC - V. E. SCHWAB

This book is literally art!! The world-building is fantastic and beautiful, but not overwhelming and all at once. With a book as seemingly complex as this, you’d think the world-building would be pure word vomit and overly descriptive, but this?!?! Is literal gold. It’s perfect. The characters are incredibly complex and realistic and Holland is the literal love of my life. Reading this book is like watching a TV Show or movie, the writing just paints a picture right before your eyes and sticks in your mind for literal months afterwards. This was a series that genuinely left a VOID in my heart after I finished it because I didn’t know what to do with myself! Read this read this read this!!!!

Pride and Prejudice, I think it’s a very nice and light classic that everyone should try to read.
