Barbara ★ | 3911 comments Remember, the quicker we all read and post, the sooner we get a new task.

AliciaJ | 1873 comments Ok, I'll start my book as soon as I get off work tonight.

Trio | 2846 comments Coco wrote: "thanks but i dont have a kindle. i do audiobooks."

do you use the Amazon Kindle app on any of your devices?

message 54: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2846 comments I'm finishing up my current audiobook right now, I'll start Delivering Dante in the morning - I usually need 1-1/2 days for each audiobook. Actual books (esp over 150 pages) will take 3 days on average.

I see some groups are flying through a task per day and I know there's no way I'll be able to keep up that pace. What does everyone else think as far as turn-around time?

message 55: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments If other teams are doing a task a day and we don't think we can compete, let's just do what we can. If you can read your book in 2 days, do it. If it takes 3, that's fine. This is supposed to be fun. :)

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

hey ya'll I like this author and everything but, since she sorta a new author I can't find any free books that meet the requirements. Since I can't does that mean we have to choose a different author.

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

I can't find the book a book by her to read for free so we might have to pick new author. Hope I'm not letting anyone down.

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments @Coco
Do you read MM?

Do you have KU? If not, I think you can get a trial membership for free. Have you tried that?

Do you have a kindle? If not, you can download the kindle app and read on any device.

If not, we can find another author. Can you post a few authors that you can read in the next few days?

message 59: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments If we can't do Lucy Lennox, I can do Lisa Henry or Sarah Dessen.

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

i can do Sarah Dessen or Lisa Henry.

message 61: by AliciaJ (new)

AliciaJ | 1873 comments I've never heard of Sarah Dessen, but I have some Lisa Henry I can read. I need to a reread for this month anyway. :)

message 62: by AliciaJ (new)

AliciaJ | 1873 comments Coco, do you have a computer or phone that you can download the kindle app to? They are having a special right now where you can get a trial of kindle unlimited for free for two months, which is a really great deal and would give you access to lots of books for free.

message 63: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2846 comments ... I've almost finished the Lucy Lennox book.

Coco, if you have the Kindle app on any of your devices, and you live in the US you can borrow from me.

Unfortunately the only book on my shelf that I can lend to you is Taming Teddy but it is a wonderful story.

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments Trio can you find a book by Lisa Henry? If so, let's switch to this author.

Trio | 2846 comments So I did finish the Lucy Lennox book Delivering Dante and it was wonderful! Best for last and all that.

Is it Lisa Henry for sure? Maybe I could re-listen to one of the Playing the Fool audiobooks, they're about five hours each.

I think so, I haven’t heard from Coco whether she has a Lisa Henry book available to her. But she said she could read Lisa Henry. But just in case it’s still Lucy, I also finished Virgin Flyer, which was pretty good too. 😊

message 71: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2846 comments oh Virgin Flyer got great reviews, I'm looking forward to that one!

message 72: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments Completion Post

message 73: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments I'll send Coco another PM. She's going to have to visit this thread daily or we're never going to get anywhere with this challenge.

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments Trio wrote: "oh Virgin Flyer got great reviews, I'm looking forward to that one!"

are you working on a book by Lisa Henry?

message 75: by Trio (last edited Apr 16, 2020 11:26PM) (new)

Trio | 2846 comments I spent Wednesday listening to the Lucy Lennox audiobook because I thought that's what we decided on. When I found out yesterday it looked like we were going with Lisa Henry I couldn't help it, I still wanted to finish the Lucy Lennox book so that's what I did.

I have not started a book by Lisa Henry. My problem for the next few days is I've got two reviews due and both books are pretty long, but I can do audiobooks because I can multi-task (I can listen while I walk the dog and do housework). I own the Playing the Fool series she wrote with JA Rock, each of them is only 5 hours long - I'll just pick one of those and do a re-listen tomorrow.

Sorry - it's 2:00am here & I'm babbling... too much info!

Trio | 2846 comments how did you like The Island Barbara? Scary, right!?!

No worries Trio. I just wanted to make sure noticed that we switched authors.

It took me a minute to get into it, but once it got going, I fell in love with the characters. You’ll love it Trio.

I remember that one, it was very hard to get through. So dark and painful.

message 81: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2846 comments yeah, I must be a glutton for punishment because I read The Island twice.

message 82: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2846 comments I'll start one of the Playing the Fool audiobooks this afternoon. We're having a birthday party for Quin in our FB group - if anyone's a fan please come and join us, I'm hosting from 3:00 - 3:15 EST today.

AliciaJ | 1873 comments Trio wrote: "yeah, I must be a glutton for punishment because I read The Island twice."

Ahhh! Twice! I can’t even imagine. Reading it just the once was like being turned inside out, but I remember feeling like I owed it to the characters and the author to finish it. It’s a great story, but it was very difficult to get through.

message 88: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 32191 comments After going through the team thread and creating a timeline of issues ongoing in this team, I have removed Coco from the challenge. She just doesn't have the resources, flexibility or availability to participate in a challenge of this nature. So going forward, you will be a team of 3 and tasks will be adjusted accordingly - like I am doing for a couple of other teams.

Because of the difficulties, Trio please just post your completion of the Lucy Lennox book. You read it in good faith and I am not going to make you read another book for this task.

I will go ahead and post your second task so you can get started as soon as possible, though two of you are Eastern time.

message 89: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 32191 comments Here is your second task:

4. Read a minimum of 750 600 pages in books tagged/shelved as sports.

Please make sure you are using the GR Kindle first edition page count! Books can be tagged the generic 'sports' or the specific sport like 'football' or 'hockey'. The qualification does need to come from a tag/shelf though.

~sigh~ I miss sports... ☹️

So is this each person reading 600 pages, or us as a team reading a total of 600 pgs?

message 91: by AliciaJ (new)

AliciaJ | 1873 comments My first book will be The Nature of the Game (Stick Side #2) by Amy Aislin The Nature of the Game. It’s sport is hockey, my favorite! 😁

message 92: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 32191 comments As a team, a total of 600 pages. 😊

Whoo! That’s a relief 😉

message 94: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments There is 3 of us so as long as your book is over 200 pages, we should all just have to read 1 book.

message 95: by Barbara ★ (new)

Thanks for your understanding with this issue Kat. It was really becoming a problem.

message 96: by Barbara ★ (last edited Apr 18, 2020 08:00AM) (new)

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments I will read Fighting Fate (Fighting, #6) by J.B. Salsbury which I've needed to read for awhile now. It involves cage fighting. It's 384 pages.

I can't read it today but I'll try to get it finished by Sunday night.

message 97: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3911 comments Alicia = 280
Barbara = 384

That's our 600 pages so Trio you can read a smaller book if you'd like.
