Shomeret | 1500 comments 5)Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh (fantasy novella) 112 pages. Source: Library Started: 3/14
Finished: 3/15

Why Read: This was nominated as a Green Man read on a Goodreads group and it has relatively few pages. I would like to read more books this month than I did in February.

Comments: I liked the Green Man and the marvelous re-conceptualization of dryads. I gave it a B+

6)Extinction by Anna Castle (paranormal mystery short story) Source: free from author via freebie website Started: 3/17 Finished: 3/19

Why Read: Last month I read a mystery short story from Anna Castle in which Francis Bacon was the detective. Now when I again have time to fit in a short story, I have a story about a Druidic Detective Agency in Austin, Texas. It's the first in a series of short stories. I really like the concept.

Comments: A jazz singer was murdered and this is MC Melody Mockingbird's first murder case. I really liked this story for the well-developed paranormal aspect. I gave it a B+.

7)The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri (contemporary fiction) 319 pages. Source: Library Started: 3/18 Finished: 3/21

Why Read: One of my Goodreads groups was reading this book in March. I've been meaning to read it. A beekeeper MC sounds interesting.

Comments: I loved the beekeeping content, and the beekeeper's artist wife. I found the book beautifully written and inspiring. I gave it an A. See my review at https://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/2...

8)Beast Heart by Kyle Richardson (steampunk fantasy) Source: free ARC from publisher via Edelweiss Started: 3/21 Finished: 3/24

Why Read: I like steampunk.

Comments: I liked the characterization, but it ended abruptly with no resolution. There's obviously going to be a sequel. I'm not a fan of that strategy. See my review at https://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/2...
