Just because of a discussion I made in another thread just now, I'm going to float a real off-the-wall idea.Rachel, your Dad swore us all to secrecy about this, but the "cure" for Rosewood Syndrome relies partly on Elf DNA. You are not only a Witch and a Demon, you're also an Elf. ta na shay!

Continuing on the thread of Elf DNA, the three major elf characters in the first 10 books are Trent, Jonathan, and Quen. Rachel has always had an odd reaction to Trent. She hates his guts but desires his [well, you know]. Similarly, Trent seems to be fascinated by Rachel, even in their days at camp. Jonathan has always loathed Rachel, and Quen and Rachel have always had an uneasy respect-but-don't-trust relationship. Rachel's hidden "Elvishness" might have something to do with this.And as long as we're making things up, maybe Ivy can smell Rachel's "Elvishness".

And then there's an odd attraction by the Queen that comes later.....
Of course, then Rachel and Trent enter the elevator and proceed to launch into yet another antagonistic dispute. But this one seems different. Trent is weary. He doesn't want to be fighting with Rachel, and he's frustrated that she keeps bringing up old history. I think this is an important scene for Rachel and how she views her relationship with Trent as she finally begins to let go of some of the grudges she's been holding onto.
Just as she's having this realization, the doors open. Rachel quickly closes them and asks Trent, '"What did you want to tell me?'" to which he shrugs and says, "'It doesn't matter'" (305-6). This is obviously a lie, as Trent evaded Quen and Jenks to get Rachel alone so he could speak with her in private.
It is my fourth time reading A Perfect Blood, and this is the mystery that haunts me: What did Trent want to tell her???
