I read this book when i was in 5th grade, so about 2013-2014. It’s a fiction tween drama. I got it from my school library. I only remember two scenes in the entire book, i don’t remember the cover or the name of the girl (sucks i know). She wasn’t a teenager i don’t think, probably 13. She was very insecure about her weight. There was a scene where she was in the pool sitting on a boogie board holding onto the edge of the pool. Then a boy she liked came up to her and touched her chest under the water. She said something along the lines of “why are you doing that”.

The other scene i remember was she was in an african country helping. They were all in a group eating lunch, most of them were little kids. She didn’t want to eat her whole plate cause she felt she was too fat and didn’t need it. Then one of the little kids asked if they could have her food. She gave it to them and i think she thought to herself, “how can i not eat when these kids are starving” something along those lines.

If y’all could find his book y’all are a literal GODSENT. I’ve been trying to find this book for YEARS.

The main character is a girl struggling with her weight (as well as other insecurities), like you said, and, though it doesn't say in this description, she goes to Africa with her aunt for like half the book.
