NEW study - Teens Prefer Print Books - social, not publishing thread

This surprised me. Teens embrace technology. Except when it comes to books. But my paperbacks outsell my ebooks by about 40%
I am 52 I prefer printed books any day over e-books. I like something I can hold in my hand. I am not sure if younger people feel the same way I do or not. Then I had a friend that is an author who had a book out in e-book only so I bought it, it later came out in paper back, so I bought that as well. So I hope more authors will still offer their books in print as well as e-books. It might be different if you own a kindle, my kindle is on my computer, so it is to big to carry around.
Carolyn, I'm a year younger than you and I don't buy printed books anymore. I'm attempting to declutter and that means scanning ever piece of paper in my house and buying only ebooks. The only exception I make is for my friends' books. In that case, I want the printed version, and autographed, of course :-)
That thread seems to be primarily e-publishing and indie discussion? Let's keep this to teens and personal 'reading' discussion. I'll reword the title. Is that okay,A?
Carolyn, be happy. At some point your hands can't hold open a mass market and hard bounds are too heavy. For years, trade worked for me but not any more. Therefore I was forced to go e-books and Audible. On regular computer wouldn't work. I read in bed, on the sofa, etc. Do you have smartphone or phone w App capability?
I downloaded Kindle app for free. Was amazed how quickly I adapted! Mainly because it's easy to increase font size to read w/out glasses and contacts.
There is an autograph app for e-signatures in e-books but I haven't used it? Anyone?
TH - right w you on clutter!

M. wrote: "Ahh. Thank you. I've now posted in both. The other as author mind but this is nice as social."No problem. I noticed that the Nielsen report was focused on teens, but I wanted to probe the wider topic. It seems that most authors in the other thread (and in this one) agree that print is still in relatively high demand. I understand that you want this new thread focused on the teen segment of the market.

For years, trade worked for me but not any more. This is off the topic of teens and print books, but in the area of print-book accessibility, i have issues holding open hardcovers while reading due to carpal tunnel, and i bought one of these:

I use it to read print books, and its adjustable so that i can use it sitting in an armchair, lying on the couch, or even lying in bed.

I agree, especially when purchasing. Cover art is crucial!
