Haha, not at all! I should have asked if anyone else wanted to join us. My bad... I was a little flustered last night as I let my dog out to do her business and she didnt come back immediately. It was cold, snowing/ice pellets and just miserable. After several trips outside in my pjs looking for her she finally came back. She doesnt normally run off and we keep a closer eye on her but last night we were distracted by high school course selection:-(

That's scary! Glad she came back, but I know how stressful things were before she did.
Well, I read through chapter 10. Halfway through the book. I need to have the book done by the 12th for a challenge. Sorry if I am speeding through too quickly for everyone else! But I’ll be around until everybody has finished.I can tell this is an early book by Center. The book starts off without much background. (view spoiler)
I finished today. The book really grew on me! In a good way. 🙂(view spoiler)
I’m glad I read this. I did enjoy it. I also really liked Things You Save in a Fire. Anyone interested in reading The Lost Husband? I can get that one from my library too. If so, we could read it next month.
You're so fast Geri!I've only gotten through 7 chapters so far. I completely forgot I had a book from the library that was due last night, and I wanted to at least get a few chapters read of You Are Not Alone before the author event this evening. I at least wanted a feel for the tone of the story and plot. :-)
I'm glad to hear this book grew on you, Geri. I'm waiting to read all the spoilers you & Laura have posted, but I do agree that it started a bit abruptly without much background.
Chapters 1-7

I should get to at least the halfway point today, with the hope of finishing tomorrow.
I can get The Lost Husband through my inter library loan program but that usually takes some time. I’m headed to the city Sunday or Monday and plan on going to the central library so I’ll look for it there. Agree, I can’t wait to hear all about the author event.

Synopsis
A year after getting divorced, Helen Carpenter, thirty-two, lets her annoying, ten years younger brother talk her into signing up for a wilderness survival course. It's supposed to be a chance for her to pull herself together again, but when she discovers that her brother's even-more-annoying best friend is also coming on the trip, she can't imagine how it will be anything other than a disaster. Thus begins the strangest adventure of Helen's well-behaved life: three weeks in the remotest wilderness of a mountain range in Wyoming where she will survive mosquito infestations, a surprise summer blizzard, and a group of sorority girls.
Yet, despite everything, the vast wilderness has a way of making Helen's own little life seem bigger, too. And, somehow the people who annoy her the most start teaching her the very things she needs to learn. Like how to stand up for herself. And how being scared can make you brave. And how sometimes you just have to get really, really lost before you can even have a hope of being found
