Stand-Alone Book Recs?

I don't really have the time to commit to a series right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good stand-alone book? I prefer contemporary and young adult books, but I'll read anything!

three times lucky by sheila turnage. Great book

Torn Away - Jennifer Brown
Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver
The Half Life of Molly Pierce - Katrina Leno
Shift - Em Bailey
Another Little Piece - Kate Karyus Quinn
The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien
Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseni
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Any of Katie McGarry's books

The Fault in Our Stars or The Girl Who Loved Tome Gordon. Both fantastic!

High Before Homeroom was great. Hope you enjoy it. But I'd read what the guys above me suggestions are. They're great.

Fangirl - Rainbow Rowell
The curious Incident of the dog in the night time - Mark Haddon

Every Day - David Levithan
The Disreputable History of Frankie-Landau Banks - E. Lockhart
The Scorpio Races - Maggie Stiefvater
Follow Me Down - Tanya Byrne

I recommend Me Before You by Jojo Moyes . I had a lot of the same feelings I experienced when I read The Fault in Our Stars.

Because this is under TFIOS, I want to suggest My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. It's adult but has the same theme, of a teenager with cancer, and she blurbed TFIOS! Also, if you want YA, her daughter co-wrote a book with her called Between the Lines. I love her other books but these two may be what you want to try. Between the Lines IS stand alone but now a sequel is coming in May. So if you read that, try not to know there's a sequel. I think it's great stand alone and MSK certainly had an amazing ending! Also her newest, Leaving Time, involves main character who's 13. Again it's adult but 13 year old Jenna searching for her mother might be cool too. :)

Beauty Queens or Going Bovine by Libba Bray; The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexi; The Selected Works of T S Spivet by Reif Larsen; Where'd you Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple; and..... The Martian by Andy Weir.

Love 'em all

Split by Swati Avasthi. About abuse.

Tattoos: A Novel by Denise May. Similar to TFIOS, really good.

Bruiser by Neal Shusterman. Really good, interesting plot.

On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Manchetta
Panic by Lauren Oliver
Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik

Tiger Lily - This is a really great stand alone. It is a re-telling of Peter Pan before Wendy came along. I personally enjoyed it :)
